Francis of Assisi Tuition Assistance Trust was established in 1999 to begin to ensure the ability of Catholic families to afford a Catholic school education in the Diocese of Tulsa. The catalyst for the development of the Trust began with the 1999 Fund for the Future campaign spearheaded by Bishop Edward J. In addition to Bishop Slattery, members of the initial Trust board were Rev. Msgr. Dennis D

orney, Chancellor Henry Harder, School Superintendent Mrs. Arden Glenn, Mr. Kenneth Brune, Mr. John Condon, Mrs. Joseph A. Wolking, and Mr. James A. Robinson. These pioneers understood the challenges of financing Catholic schools and gathered to create a lasting endowment that would assist every accredited Catholic school in the Diocese of Tulsa by offering need-based tuition assistance to their school families. No family receives full tuition assistance, as everyone is expected to pay something. To this day, the Diocese of Tulsa is grateful for the men and women who have and are now serving on the Board of the Trustees. Their willingness to volunteer their time and expertise has allowed the corpus to grow each year and thus provide an increase in tuition assistance throughout the diocese.
