I am in the airport right now. Today, I am flying to Equatorial Guinea for an Evangelism Conference and several evangelistic outreaches. Equatorial Guinea is right on the equator and is the only nation in Africa that speaks Spanish. I am excited to minister there because I have preached in Latin America many times, but I have never preached in Spanish in Africa.
Equatorial Guinea is a nation of over 1.8 million people that needs a fresh move of God. Although the nation is historically Catholic, only 4.8% of the population is evangelical, which means hundreds of thousands have yet to hear a clear presentation of the Gospel. According to the Joshua Project, Equatorial Guinea is home to 18 distinct people groups, including 3 unreached people groups who have little to no access to the message of Jesus. For this trip, our vision is to unite churches, equip believers for evangelism, and lay the groundwork for a city-shaking outreach in Bata so that thousands can hear the Good News.
Bata, a city of 173,046 people, is the vibrant coastal heart of Equatorial Guinea and the largest city in the nation, a bustling port on the mainland that serves as a cultural, economic, and social crossroads for the entire region. Known for its wide waterfront, energetic markets, and rapidly growing population, Bata is a city where tradition and modern development meet. As a gateway to the interior and a hub for people from across the country, it holds tremendous strategic importance for the Gospel. With its influence, accessibility, and central role in the nation, reaching Bata means impacting the spiritual future of Equatorial Guinea.
Please pray for me this week as I reach out to Equatorial Guinea.
