Soak It In

Father, help us to not have the mentality that we are too old, too intelligent, have too much experience, or just that your gifts are not applicable in today’s world. Help us to not have the attitude that the gifts you offer are not usable. Remind us that no matter who we are we are always in need of more of the knowledge of your truth. Father, help us get over the need to be right all the time, remembering that it is only you that has that quality. Father, help us to learn to use the discernment you have gifted us with, giving us warning signs along our pathway to eternity. Let obedience be the key to the door of spiritual opportunity in our lives Father. Help us to not become inattentive listeners to the whispers of correction you send out. Help us avoid superficial and shallow thoughts that try to replace the impact of the truth in our daily lives. Let us ask ourselves the question, do we listen for you? Do we ever want to take the time to just find a quiet place and wait, just wait to hear from you? Father, help us to take in the whispers of correction as easily as we grasp onto the words of blessing. Help us to keep your commandments in our hearts, prolonging our life and bringing prosperity as you said in your word. Father, increase our usefulness as we allow our knowledge of you to increase. Help us learn that truth is just that, the truth. Amen.

Discipline

Do we fully understand how many times a day we are like the disobedient child we were growing up. Do we think about what our heavenly Father is thinking or feeling when we become that child. There is an expectation on the Father’s part about the reactions of His children. Why do we often choose to stand on our own thoughts rather than accepting the greatness and the blessings of being an obedient child? It is not easy to let the stiff back we are born with become flexible. It is only the Father’s heart that surrounds us with love and mercy that brings that flyability to our back. We often find one influence applying pressure, trying to stiffen our back and another Fatherly influence massaging it with the truth. Father, help us to learn to more quickly recognize the difference, let our flexibility open the door of blessings. Help us understand that a stiff back can eventually lead to a broken back, that a broken back needs restoration, not just renewal. Father, let us not become proud of the stiffness we are born with, let it not turn our heart into a place of arrogance, pulling us away from your grace. Let us be decisive and quick to allow the suppleness of surrender become the balm we allow to be applied to our stiff back. Thank you, Father, that our flexible spine leads to eternal joy. Amen.

Small Beginnings

We have a God of abundance, unlimited resources, and they are made available by His grace. God has a way of getting your needs met and your problems solved. The ground floor of His redemption in the barren fields of your life is rooted in your faith becoming a seed that is allowed to sprout and blossom into harvest, His harvest for you. In Matthew 17 we see the mustard seed faith doing the impossible. It is that faith God was referring too when He said, … “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Oh, by the way, God says all things in due season. He is saying that if we plant bad seeds, we will reap what we sow, bad results in our lives. Sounds to me like He put us in charge of what we can expect from what we do!

Time after time we see in scriptures how God causes the seed of the harvest to be much greater than was asked for. Look at the catch of fish the disciples ended up with, overloaded for sure. The overflow of the harvest even blessed those around them. Our faithfulness can bless others. God is not asking us to plant what we do not have, just the little mustard seed we do have. Offer up to Him only what you have and let Him prosper the seed into harvest. Maybe all you have right now is a seed of prayer, a seed of forgiveness, a seed of love or joy, whatever it might be. In our current situation of chaos around the world, we can surely find many places to sow our seeds of faith. Remember, God first sowed seeds for our lives in John 3:16 --- “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Let’s make Christ the role model of the harvest cycle of our lives.

Train and Exercise

As we strengthen our spirit we move more and more under His covering. Training for the long haul will bring God’s satisfaction into your life. It will bring contentment, knowing that God is in control. Look at the Lord’s Prayer, it covers what we seek in life. We need to make a life changing decision to become a distance runner in life. Ask God for His presence and joy. As we prayerfully train for the future, we can expect His answer to unfold in our lives.

Be encouraged and make a choice to not just train for the sprint over and over and over in your life. Be no longer one and done spiritually but be eternally empowered by Spiritual Stamina in a life of prayer and intercession. Let us not pursue anything that separates us from God. We don’t need to find pleasure in the dark things of life but walk in the light of God. We need to give God a permanent place in our mind and conduct. Sin sees you coming and prepares to open the door. The world has an open door into darkness. Let’s walk in the light of God’s word, avoiding the “bed” of the world. The enemy’s plot all along is to lure us astray. Praise God we can have victory over the darkness that surrounds us today.

In what direction are you walking? Do you have the Spiritual Stamina to walk against the flow of the world? If not, are you willing to exercise until you get it? It will make an eternal difference in your life.
