Our group had a wonderful Christmas party at the church last week. Tributes to Laura and Jim Henry. Karen Mewbourne shared a bit of her life story. With decorations by Karen Moore (who taught for us 12/18). It was a fun evening.

THIS SUNDAY! 3 of the small groups at First Baptist Church Sunday are joining together to hear Clete Hux of the Apologetics Resource Center speak on "Jesus In An Age of Pluralism". The world we live in is changing radically. (Reminds me of Dorothy who said, "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore"). In addition to knowing what we believe, Clete Hux will help us understand who are the various new groups around us and how we best can share our faith with them.

We welcome any and all to join us at 10:45a in room C308 (joining with Mike Carter's group)

UNITY. Christian unity? Unity is helped by a variety of common things. We discuss it this Sunday.

Returning to the Manual. Discussion will be lead next Sunday by Bobby Hornsby.

Over the past several weeks we have looked at what causes us to return to God. We’ve looked at the story of the prodigal son to learn that most of us return when we are in a state of desperation. After circumstances have forced us to return we then learn to love again the things we once rejected.

Learning to love home again and learning to talk with our loved ones then makes us realize that we owe it to ourselves to relearn the rules of the road. Relearn the things that not only please the family but make life easier for ourselves.

The next several weeks we continue to look at returning. The more voices we have in the discussion the better we are. Come. Join us at 10:45a.

This Sunday's discussion begins several weeks of thinking about returning. It just seems so obvious that we would, yet we don't. A recent thought by Billy Graham sums up what we've been saying in deNOVO....

"We must get this fact firmly fixed in our minds: we live in an upside-down world. People hate when they should love, quarrel when they should be friendly, fight when they should be peaceful, wound when they should heal, steal when they should share, do wrong when they should do right. I once saw a toy clown with a weight in its head. No matter what position you put it in, it invariably assumed an upside-down position. Put it on its feet or on its side, and when you let go it flipped back on its head. Unregenerate people are just like that! Do what you may with them and they always revert to an upside-down position. That is why the disciples to the world were misfits. To an upside-down person, a right-side up person seems upside down. To a sinner, a righteous person is an oddity and an abnormality. A Christian’s goodness is a rebuke to the wicked; his being right-side up is a reflection upon the worldling’s inverted position." deNOVO Visitors and members enjoying conversation afterwards. Great discussion yesterday on what happens to a whole nation when some within it sin. The timing couldn't have been better. Thanks to all--do it again next week.
