💜Meet Living Well Refuge🧡
Hello my name is Chelsi Garner, my husband is Aaron Garner but most people call him “Chuey”. We both came out of a hard lifestyle of addiction and by God’s grace were saved and had the chance to attend a faith based discipleship program for a year. When we got home to Grundy County, TN, we saw that there wasn’t any housing and limited resources for people coming out of recovery homes. Fortunately, I had my mom to live with, and Chuey almost had nowhere to go. We started doing jail ministry, and the longer we ministered the more we ran into the same problem. NO PLACE FOR THEM TO LIVE AFTERWARDS. So we prayed and waited and began working on a trailer on my family’s land that we thought would be ours to live in. In the meantime, God blessed us with another home. My mom had a vision of bunk beds after a prayer meeting at her home the night before where a lady had come struggling because she didn’t have a sober place to live. The Lord had told her that her home would be a refuge, so we took that vision and began putting this ministry into the works. God started moving immediately and He knew we had the heart for it. We are clearing the land where the trailer was and want to build a home for women and eventually want to open a home for men. I would like to share our vision for this home. Most of the people we serve have burned every bridge and feel like there is nobody else who loves them, but I serve a God who left the 99 to go after the 1. Jesus came to bring the gift of restoration and taught us to Love Our Neighbor more than ourselves. Our goal is to build a home that will provide a safe place for healing, love, and discipleship for men and women who need to be loved back to life. The risk of relapse is way higher if a person doesn’t have a stable home to go back into. Homelessness creates a way higher risk for drug use or may cause an individual to go back into a toxic situation because they feel like there is no other place to go. Housing is so crucial for a person to become a successful community member. A sober home provides safety without drug availability, toxic social connections, and the stress of finding a place to sleep or shower. When coming out of addiction, men and women need guidance and structure. They have made a wreck of their lives and need help getting all the broken pieces back together. We aim to provide resources for every area of their lives and provide a job for them. Counseling, parenting classes, trauma related classes, budgeting, and life skills training will be key parts in the road to success for these individuals. It takes every body part in the kingdom of God, and we would like to ask you to be a part of this vision and partner with us in helping this vision come true. Whether it be financially, in prayer, or using your gift/talent that God has given you. Imagine if you could help a mother or father get their life back on track and could help change the whole legacy for generations. When a mother or father finds healing that means their kids do and then their grandkids. It will have a ripple effect throughout this community and surrounding communities. Come alongside us and show God’s love through sowing into this ministry
