Prayer Guide Days 7 - 9

Day 7 - September 6th

READ: Mark 2:23-28

CONSIDER: Mark 2:27

REFLECT: Rest is not an obstacle to ministry. A church that repeatedly consumes the most faithful people eventually weakens its ability to serve.

CONSIDER: Where has service begun to feel like unending obligation?

PRAYER: Pray for healthy rhythms of work, worship, and rest.

PRACTICE: Where can you help yourself or someone else rest?

Day 8, September 7

READ: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

CONSIDER: 1 Corinthians 12:18, 27

REFLECT: Healthy ministry distributes contribution according to gifts. Every part matters; no one part should carry the whole body.

CONSIDER: Where is Foundry overly dependent on one person?

PRAYER: Ask God to reveal and develop gifts across the congregation.

PRACTICE: Identify one role that needs a backup.

Day 9, September 8

READ: Romans 12:3-8

CONSIDER: Romans 12:6

REFLECT: Capacity is more than available hours. People serve best when gifts, experience, and calling fit the work

CONSIDER: Are we filling vacancies or matching gifts to meaningful work?

PRAYER: Pray for discernment about people’s gifts.

PRACTICE: Ask one person what kind of service gives them energy.

Day 6, September 5

Read: Matthew 25:14-30
Consider: Matthew 25:21

Reflect: Stewardship is both financial and spiritual. Foundry’s people, abilities, relationships, building, time, funds, and reputation are entrusted resources.

Consider: Which resource are we underusing? Which are we overusing?

Prayer: Thank God for the people and gifts already present.

Practice: Notice one overlooked gift in another person and talk to them about it.

Day 5, September 4

READ: Proverbs 16:1-3

CONSIDER: Proverbs 16:3

REFLECT: This passage illustrates the importance of commitment.

CONSIDER: Where can you best make a commitment to Foundry?

PRAYER: Pray for the courage to match your commitment to God’s direction.

PRACTICE: Make the decision to help at Foundry with this commitment.

READ: Micah 6

CONSIDER: Micah 6:8

REFLECT: Foundry’s foundation is demanding in a healthy way: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. Humility means serving without assuming we already know what others need. Which of justice, mercy, or humility needs most attention now?

CONSIDER: Which of justice, mercy, or humility needs most attention now?

PRAYER: Ask God to make service both compassionate and humble.

PRACTICE: Listen to one person today without offering a solution.

Day 3

Read: Matthew 22:34-40
Consider: Matthew 22:37-39
Reflect: Programs are tools. Loving God and loving people are foundational purposes. Every current and future ministry should be tested against the purposes.
Consider: Which Foundry activity most clearly expresses love of God and neighbor?
Prayer: Ask for love to remain stronger than preference.
Practice: Encourage someone whose service reflects these commands.

We are starting a 90-day prayer plan that will finish the day before Advent begins.

Day 1, August 30th
Read: Proverbs 3:1-12
Consider: Proverbs 3:5-6
Reflect: Foundry's next steps should begin with trust rather than certainty. Planning matters, but wisdom begins by acknowledging that our perspective is incomplete.
Consider: Where are we most tempted to rely on our own understanding?
Prayer: Ask God to direct Foundry's path.
Practice: Write one way your perspective may be incomplete.

Day 2, August 31st
Read: James 1:1-8
Reflect: James 1:5
Reflect: A church doesn't need every answer before moving forward. It does need the humility to ask for wisdom and the patience to receive it.
Consider: What decision needs wisdom over speed?
Prayer: Pray for wisdom for each member
Practice: In what decisions do you need wisdom?

As a new school year begins, we invite all students to bring their backpacks to service this Sunday for our Blessing of the Backpacks.

During the service, we'll take a special moment to pray for everyone heading into a new school year—that God would grant wisdom, courage, safety, and peace in the days ahead.

Whether you're starting kindergarten, heading to college, or teaching a classroom, we'd love to celebrate and pray over you.

We can't wait to see you on Sunday!

This Sunday was one of those days that reminds us what it means to be a church family.

We celebrated new beginnings as we welcomed and prayed over our new pastor, Kimberly, looking forward with excitement to all that God has in store for our church. We also had the joy of celebrating a sweet baby shower, rejoicing with the growing Fitzgerald family as they prepare for their little girl.

At the same time, our hearts were a little heavy as we said goodbye to the Hussey family, who are moving across the country. While we're sad to see them go, we're incredibly thankful for the years we've shared together and the ways they've blessed our church. We pray that God will provide a wonderful new church family and friends, and continue to use them wherever they call home.

Days like these are bittersweet—a reminder that the church is always growing, changing, sending, and welcoming. Through every 'see you later', celebration, and new chapter, God remains faithful.

Please join us in praying for our new pastor, for the Fitzgeralds preparing to welcome their little one, and for our friends as they begin this new adventure across the country.
