This past Friday marked the feast of St Martin of Tours and in the past the great fast of st martin. The fast consisted of abstaining from flesh meat three times a week (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday) with the option of fasting on those days as well. The fast lasts until the feast of the Nativity of our Lord on December 25th.

Today, the League of Christ Sovereign celebrates a particularly special feast day on the traditional Roman Catholic calendar.

September 26th is the feast of the North American martyrs: 8 French Jesuit missionaries were slaughtered by Iroquois youths believing that the sign of the cross was some sort of a curse being placed upon them. For that and many other ignorant reasons, these 8 martyrs were killed with some enduring the most horrific torture any saint of the Church had ever experienced.

In their honor, a motley crew of LCS members and staff along with leadership and others from The New Columbia Movement, formed the brand new brigade of St. Gabriel Possenti, patron of LCS, at the yearly Pilgrimage for Restoration. After three days of grueling walking nearly 70 miles, near freezing temperatures at night with little sleep, 600 pilgrims walked to the National Shrine of the North American Martyrs. We silently strode to the ravine in which the remains of Jesuit St. Rene Goupil were cast and eventually buried after his brutal killing by the Iroquois. After Mass, we kissed the other sacred relics of the martyrs and carried up our heartfelt intentions for our weekend of hardship.

After the first day, our new brigade was in crisis. Many did not expect the great difficulty of this pilgrimage with many requiring frequent respites, some men vomiting from the stress, others even briefly succumbing to manic episodes from the pains they attempted to power through. Some came very unprepared not expecting the sharp drop in temperature. Morale was low, and it was a real possibility that our brigade would evaporate by morning with the ominous dread over two more days and nights of the same painful experiences.

I myself, President Peter Burke, who was given charge to personally lead this brigade, was exhausted. Less so from the physical stress as this was my third pilgrimage, but from the mental and spiritual anguish of seeing a years worth of preparation and planning falling apart before our eyes. I doubted my capacity for leadership and if I had the strength to continue. And I was right.

Yet, rather than believe in my own ability, I asked many in the pilgrimage to pray for our brigade and encouraged everyone to do so. I prayed to Jesus, Mary and St. Gabriel Possenti to impart on us the power to see the pilgrimage through. By their intercession, our brigade arose with a new energy and even with only a few more struggles, made it through two more days of hard march.

Many spiritual lessons have been learned on this pilgrimage and we are all better Christians for having done so.

Please consider joining the League of Christ Sovereign if you too wish to experience the power and grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ Sovereign in the manner we also have. Come with us on pilgrimage next year for the glory of our God! Please also visit our friends in the New Columbia Movement to find more opportunities to stand for the cause of Christ in our culture!

Today on July 29th, the League of Christ Sovereign officially celebrates the Feast Day of Blessed Pope Urban II.

In 1095 AD, in a grand Church in the city of Clermont France, the bishop of Rome took to the pulpit and delivered what is considered to be the most important and consequential speech of the Middle Ages.

His message was one of dire necessity for repentance, defense of the sacred and of holy war. For centuries, Europe was under dire threat from the Muslim kingdoms to the east and the south. Slaver ships and pirates routinely ransacked the coasts of the Mediterranean. Barbaric armies would invade the Catholic nations, butchering and burning as they went bringing death to all who did not reject Christ and embrace their false prophet.

This alone would be enough to act, but word of atrocities in the Holy Land towards the Christians there reached the ears of the Holy Father and enough was enough.

Blessed Pope Urban II called for a Crusade, a warring pilgrimage to the Holy Land to retake the lands where Christ lived and died back into the control of Christian hands and strike back against centuries of Islamic aggression.

The Crusades marked a turning point in European history which birthed the very concept of a common European identity centered on the Holy Catholic faith. The day the Crusaders set forth on their way, the idea of Christendom was truly born.

May Christendom one day be our reality again!

Victory! Victory for the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Holy Nativity of St. John the Baptist!

For nearly half a century, unborn children of the United States of America suffered under the weight of oppression and death at the hands of abortionists and their diabolical lobbies in government and the deceived citizenry.

After decades of tireless activism and legal challenges, the American pro-life movement has won its greatest victory.

The Supreme Court of the United States has overturned its 1973 decision in the case of Roe vs Wade. No longer shall abortion be considered a constitutionally protected right with its question now up to each individual state of the US; half of which will either heavily restrict or outright bann the practice.

The flagship of the pro-death culture of America has been sunk. The flotilla of life, captained by Christ the King Sovereign shall sail ahead and lead us to ever greater victories for His Social Kingship!

Memorare, O piissima Virgo Maria,
a saeculo non esse auditum, quemquam ad tua currentem praesidia,
tua implorantem auxilia, tua petentem suffragia,
esse derelictum.
Ego tali animatus confidentia,
ad te, Virgo Virginum, Mater, curro,
ad te venio, coram te gemens peccator assisto.
Noli, Mater Verbi,
verba mea despicere;
sed audi propitia et exaudi.
Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help, or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen.

February 27th:

Today we members of the League of Christ Sovereign celebrate one our most cherished and special feast days: the feast of St. Gabriel Possenti of Our Lady of Sorrows.

St. Gabriel Possenti is the chosen patron saint of LCS. He is the patron of youth, seminarians, clergy, students and (unofficially) pistoleers.

He left his comfortable life as a well loved youth in his home town in Italy and joined the Passionists to be a monk.

His full devotion to love of Our Lady and Our Lord is the envy of all who desire holiness. He was not a warrior, or a king, or a doctor of the faith. He was a young man. He died a young man of disease and wishing to give up the prospect of a long life to allow himself to be extinguished by the sufferings he begged God to bring down upon him.

The achievements of his virtue are simple and true with his love a fully attainable state we all can strive for.

He bravely stood up to wicked soldiers who ransacked a town he was staying in, took one of their pistols and chased them away singlehandedly while marred by weakness of tuberculosis.

This kind of love, faith and bravery is what we men of the League all seek to accomplish for ourselves and we spread devotion to St. Gabriel Possenti at every opportunity.

“Oh, St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows, we humbly implore your protection and inspiration as chosen patron of our lay organization. Please carry the prayers of our youthful members to the halls of Christ to be heard through your worthy voice. Be also our guide to devotion to the most Blessed Mother of God, so we may imitate her love and purity. We also ask your help for success in all holy endeavors of the League of Christ Sovereign, its goals be met and its mission fulfilled for the greater glory of Christ our Sovereign king,

Amen.”

Happy Feast of St. Polycarp of Smyrna, Bishop and Martyr!
-
St. Polycarp is famous for his orthodoxy and having been martyred for his public Catholicism, may we invoke his holy example and his intercession before The Lord that The Church may be purged of unorthodox behavior and liturgical abuse.

St. Polycarp pray for us!

May Christ Sovereign hear our prayer!

-
"Polycarp also was instructed by apostles, and he spoke with many who had seen Christ. Not only that, but by apostles, in Asia he was appointed bishop of the church in Smyrna. I also saw him in my early youth, for he lived a very long time. When he was a very old man, he gloriously and most nobly suffered martyrdom and departed this life. He had always taught the things which he had learned from the apostles, and which the church has handed down, and which alone are true...It was he who, coming to Rome in the time of Anicetus, caused many persons to turn away from the aforesaid heresies of the church of God...And Polycarp himself replied to Marcion, who met him on one occasion, and said, "Do you know me?" [Polycarp replied,] "I do know you, the firstborn of Satan!"...There is also a very powerful epistle of Polycarp written to the Philippians, from which those who choose to do so, and are anxious about their salvation, can learn the character of his faith, and the preaching of the truth." Matthew 16:13-19
And Jesus came into the quarters of Cesarea Philippi: and he asked his disciples, saying: Whom do men say that the Son of man is? But they said: Some John the Baptist, and other some Elias, and others Jeremias, or one of the prophets. Jesus saith to them: But whom do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.
