Halal Food Fest Time !
OK BUT WHAT IS HALAL ?
No it's not the food you get at a gyro cart.😊
Based on Quran and Ahaadith ( narrations of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH ) alcohol , swine , blood , and Maytah are Haram ( impermissible ).
Now let's understand what Maytah is.
There are certain principles to be followed during the slaughtering of animal making it in accordance to the rulings and teachings of Islam. Any animal that dies due to any reason other than the correct method of slaughtering will be considered Maytah. And as we mentioned above Allah clearly states in the Quran that Maytah is not permissible for us to consume. The principles that have been put in place for us to follow in Islam have been put there for good reason. It is performed in a manner which is humane , least painful to the animal and drains out the blood making the meat clean and healthy.
Now Allah has also allowed for us to consume the meat slaughtered by those of the Ahlul Kitaab ( People of the Book ) referring to those who follow the faith of Christianity and Judaism. Now based on that a person may think that " Hey I should be able to eat from almsot anywhere ." But that is not the case. We have had our Ulama ( scholars ) actually go in person and visit several slaughter houses across America. Slaughter houses which supply to a very major part of the meat consumers. They have seen the way the animals are killed and not only is it completely against the principles prescribed to us in the religion of Islam, Christianity and Judaism , it is inhumane and torturous to the animals. I myself have seen the videos taken of the process they use. The way they are slaughtered makes them all Maytah which in turn makes it Haram to consume.
So next time let's try to do a bit of research before we eat out. 😊
Don't worry , a bit of sacrifice in this world will take you very far in the akhirah. Alhamdulillah more and more halal businesses and restaurants are coming up every where. Specially in Houston !
Right here in the Southeast we have several halal butcheries ; Bismillah , Hwy 3 Grocers , Middle Eastern Grocers and many others.
So let's support our brothers and sisters trying to provide us with an opportunity to please Allah.
Subhanllah, this is the mercy of Allah . We get Hasanaat ( good deeds ) for eating and enjoying ourselves! 😃
People may complain "But it makes life so hard and Islam is supposed to be easy."
Lol I am a very big foodie and alhamdulillah it has never been thaaaaaat difficult. Sure there will be challenges but isn't that where what life is ? Isn't the reason we were created to he tested ?
Alhamdulillah nowadays there are plenty of options everywhere you go. Many restaurants actually have a separate halal menu now as well. Don't worry , inshallah if you don't have meat for one meal you won't die. 😁
Another beautiful thing I have experienced is many of my non Muslim brothers and sisters always try to accommodate for me.
Shout-out to my colleagues for always keeping me in mind and asking me about my dietary restrictions. 😊
“But his food is Haram, his drink is Haram, his dress is Haram, and he is nourished with Haram. How then is his supplication (du’a) to be accepted?” (Muslim)
How can one expect to be spiritually sound if one's supplications go unanswered? The body, mind, and spirit are all interconnected. Anything that affects the body, in turn, affects the mind and consequently affects the spirit. Thus, whatever negatively affects the mind is prohibited in Islam. This is one of the pearls of wisdom behind the prohibition of specific foods and drinks, e.g., alcohol, drugs, blood, swine, carrion, etc.
May Allah guide us Allah and accept all of our good deeds and efforts ! 💯
