Sisters at the Carondelet Motherhouse lifted Sisters Monica Kleffner and Pat Quinn in prayerful song yesterday as they moved into Nazareth Living Center. The sisters sang Sancte Joseph, the ‘official blessing song’ of the CSJ’s, before the sisters left. We send our continued blessings to Sisters Monica and Pat as they continue their ministry of prayer and presence at NLC.

"An endowment, an inheritance, is undeserved, the result of circumstances and generosity beyond our control. Our life, our talents and all that surrounds us, is pure gift. We've done nothing to deserve it... Developing our gifts and using them in the best way possible is the only way we can give thanks or begin to respond adequately to what we have been given.

Awareness of our graced endowment prepares us for the parable Jesus tells us today."

Read Sister McGlone's commentary on this parable and what it teaches us about Christian values.

Scripture for Life: Developing our gifts and using them in the best way possible is the only way we can give thanks or begin to respond adequately to what we have been given.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Barbara Lynn Dreher, who died Sept. 6 at Nazareth Living Center in St. Louis at the age of 78.

Sister Barbara devoted herself to elementary education, religious education, and province and congregational leadership. Many knew her through her nearly nine years of dedicated service as the director of Development for the St. Louis province. Her warmth, generosity and deep commitment to our mission touched countless lives — donors, staff and sisters alike.

Sister Barbara readily admitted that prayer was the center point of her life. Strengthened by her sisters in community and inspired by family and friends, she lived with contagious faith and deep love for God’s people. May she rest in peace.

"St. Paul would say that acting as if loving were a choice and not an obligation gives us an address in the distant suburbs of God's reign. He says we owe love to one another."

Read Sister McGlone's commentary in its entirety on love and how Jesus showed us how to do it!

Scripture for Life: Jesus was famous for his preferential option for the poor and vulnerable, so much so that he expected his disciples to be like them. In this teaching, he calls disciples to heroic greatness.

The Sisters of St. Joseph are helping to lead the way at St. Stephen Protomartyr Parish in St. Louis with transforming plastic waste into sleeping mats for people experiencing homelessness. St. Louis PBS stopped by to learn about the process and spoke with our very own Sisters Suzanne Giblin and Mary Jo Logan.
