Presbyterian Mission International

Presbyterian Mission International DISTINCTIVES

1. LOWER COST - Christian nationals, as well as international couples, generally need to raise less financial support than most U.S.

DOCTRINAL STANDARDS

PMI adheres to the doctrinal standards set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith, together with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms, subordinate to the Word of God. EDUCATION - All PMI missionaries are graduates of Covenant Theological Seminary, which is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

2. ASSESSMENT - Because more than half of PMI board members

are faculty members at the seminary, they generally have a three-to four-year period to assess candidates in class, in ministry settings and as members of the seminary community.

3. missionaries because they return to what usually are less expensive living standards. Because of their cultural awareness and ready network of in-country contacts, they can often operate their ministries, buy land and build needed facilities for less.

4. 100% - That's our commitment. Every dime you give for a particular missionary will go to that missionary's support. Much of PMI's operation is conducted by volunteer effort. A few generous gifts subsidize what administrative expenses we do have, so that none of those costs are passed on to the missionaries.

General information

PMI was founded in 1988 by the former President of Covenant Theological Seminary, Dr. Robert G. Rayburn, to assist Christian nationals graduating from the seminary in returning to their developing home countries to begin their evangelistic, church-planting, leadership training and holistic ministries. Over the two decades of its development, PMI has also incorporated both international couples and missionaries who return to more developed countries. PMI remains committed to the original ideals of partnering with well-trained and Reformed Christian nationals who are able to minister as cultural insiders and in ways that usually require much less financial support than western missionaries.
