Lovers,

Couples come to me all the time with the same issue:
We need help with communication.
And most of the time, I find that the couple is able to understand one another. It's just that the relationship is not safe enough to say what they are really feeling. A relationship pioneer Dr. John Gottman says that being able to resolve conflicts is not actually the savior of marriages.

In my work, I have found the key to saving relationships is intimacy. And honestly, this applies to all relationships, intimacy, romantic, familial and friendship.

Resolving conflict is one step to being calm and solving afflicting challenges, but it does nothing to further and strengthen the bond between people. Instead, I prefer couples to work on trust building, sharing secrets, taking risks and being vulnerable. Being able to do work through these tough spots is key to building the connection between lovers who are struggling.
