The Romans Road to Salvation

If you've ever wondered how to have a relationship with Jesus, the Bible gives us a simple path through the book of Romans.

1. We have all sinned.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." — Romans 3:23

None of us are perfect. Every one of us has made mistakes and fallen short of God's standard.

2. Sin has a consequence.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." — Romans 6:23

Sin separates us from God. But He didn't leave us without hope.

3. God proved His love for us.

"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." — Romans 5:8

Jesus didn't wait for us to clean up our lives. He came to us while we were still broken.

4. Jesus is the only way to be saved.

"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." — Romans 10:9

Salvation isn't earned by good works. It's received by faith in Jesus Christ.

5. Everyone is invited.

"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." — Romans 10:13

No matter what you've done... No matter how far you've fallen... No matter how broken you feel...

Jesus is still calling you.

He changed my life, and He can change yours too.

If today is the day you want to surrender your life to Christ, talk to Him. It doesn't have to be a perfect prayer. Just be honest.

"Jesus, I know I'm a sinner. I believe You died for me and rose again. Please forgive me, come into my life, and help me follow You from this day forward. Thank You for saving me. Amen."

This page exists for you.

We're not here chasing likes, followers, or numbers.

Then it's worth every moment.

There are days we wonder if anyone is reading these posts.

There are days we don't see the impact.

But we know this:

God's Word never returns empty.

Every person behind Hope & Healing has a story.

We've walked through addiction.

We've experienced incarceration.

We've faced homelessness.

We've lived through trauma, heartbreak, and trials.

We don't speak from theory.

We speak from experience.

We've seen what God can do when a life is surrendered to Him.

That's why we'll keep showing up.

We'll keep encouraging.

We'll keep praying.

We'll keep reminding you that your past doesn't have to define your future.

Because we believe with all our hearts that a better life is possible through Jesus Christ.

This morning, I was looking through my Facebook memories and came across a picture of my kindergarten graduation.

As I looked at that little girl smiling at the camera, I couldn't help but wonder...

If I could go back and talk to her, what would I say?

How could I prepare her for what was coming?

Just four years later, her innocence would be stolen.

She would spend years searching for love in all the wrong places, believing the lies spoken over her, and trying to numb the pain she didn't know how to carry.

If I could sit beside that little girl today, I'd tell her this...

"You are loved more than you can imagine."

"What happens to you is not your fault."

"The pain you're about to experience will not define the rest of your life."

"One day, God will take every broken piece and create something beautiful."

I can't go back and change my past.

None of us can.

But I can thank God that He was already there, even on the days I couldn't see Him.

The enemy intended to destroy me.

God redeemed me.

He took my deepest wounds and turned them into a testimony that now points others to hope.

Maybe you can't change your past either.

But God can redeem it.

So let me ask you...

If you could go back and talk to the younger you, what would you say?

What did you need to hear?

What direction would you give?

Sometimes the reason we turn away from God is because we're angry.

Angry about our circumstances.

Angry about the loss of someone we love.

Angry over betrayal.

Angry because life didn't turn out the way we thought it would.

I've been there.

After my marriage ended, I was hurt. I was angry. I stopped talking to God because I couldn't understand why He had allowed my life to fall apart.

Maybe you've been there too.

Here's what I've learned.

God doesn't promise we'll never experience heartbreak.

He doesn't promise we'll never be betrayed, abandoned, or disappointed.

We live in a broken world filled with broken people. Sin has left its mark on humanity, and sometimes we hurt each other in ways that leave deep scars.

But God doesn't waste our pain.

He meets us in it.

He walks with us through it.

And if we'll let Him, He will use even our deepest wounds to bring healing, strength, and hope.

The enemy wants your pain to push you away from God.

Jesus invites your pain to bring you closer to Him.

If you're angry today, tell Him.

If you're hurting, tell Him.

If you have questions, ask Him.

God isn't intimidated by your honesty.

He would rather have an honest conversation with you than your silence.

Don't let your pain become the reason you walk away from the only One who can truly heal your heart.

Turn to Him.

He is still close to the brokenhearted.

Who you surround yourself with matters.

Life is hard.

There will be seasons of loss, disappointment, temptation, and heartache. God never intended for us to walk through those seasons alone.

Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us not to forsake meeting together because we need one another. We need people who will encourage us, pray for us, challenge us, and point us back to Jesus when we lose our way.

I used to tell my children as they were growing into adults, "Show me your friends, and I'll show you your future."

Why?

Because the people we spend the most time with influence the direction of our lives.

If we surround ourselves with people who are chasing the world, we'll eventually start chasing the world.

But when we surround ourselves with people who love Jesus, who have walked through hardship, who have found freedom, and who keep their eyes on Him, their faith strengthens ours.

We begin to think differently.

We make wiser choices.

We learn what it looks like to trust God through life's storms.

The Bible warns us, "Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character.'" (1 Corinthians 15:33)

The opposite is true, too.

Godly friendships build godly lives.

So give yourself a fighting chance.

Find people who will pray with you, speak truth to you, and remind you who you are in Christ when you've forgotten.

The right people won't just change your circumstances.

They can change the direction of your life.

One of the biggest lies people believe is that they have to get their life together before they can come to Jesus.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

If we could fix ourselves, we wouldn't need a Savior.

Jesus doesn't say, "Clean yourself up, and then come to Me."

He simply says, "Come."

Come with your brokenness.

Come with your addiction.

Come with your shame.

Come with your questions.

Come just as you are.

He already knows every struggle, every failure, every secret you've tried to hide. He's not waiting to be surprised by your past. He's waiting for you to trust Him with it.

The Bible reminds us, "You do not have because you do not ask God." (James 4:2)

Sometimes the miracle we're waiting for begins with a simple, honest prayer:

"Jesus, I can't do this on my own. I need You."

You don't have to be perfect to come to Jesus.

You just have to be real.

And when you take that first step toward Him, you'll discover He's been reaching for you all along.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18

Most people don't wake up one day and decide they want to become addicted.

More often than not, they're trying to numb something.

The pain of rejection.

The weight of shame.

Childhood trauma.

Loneliness.

Grief.

Fear.

The substance becomes an escape from emotions that feel too heavy to carry.

I know, because I lived it.

But here's what I discovered: no drug, no drink, and no addiction can heal a broken heart. They only numb it for a little while. The pain is still there when the high wears off.

Jesus offers something different.

He doesn't just numb our pain. He heals it.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that when our hearts are broken, God doesn't pull away from us—He draws near to us.

Instead of running to what numbs you, run to the One who loves you.

Instead of escaping your thoughts, bring them to Jesus.

Instead of carrying your pain alone, lay it at the feet of the One who carried the cross for you.

Healing takes time, but it begins the moment we stop running from God and start running to Him.

If your heart is hurting today, know this: Jesus is closer than your pain.
