We've moved our Annual Parish Auction to February, but we know that there are a few things that are very important items to our Parishioners and Friends - reserved seating for Christmas Mass and our School Christmas Program, and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus - and a few other things as well! Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized.

Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”

You may have heard that following his recent surgery, Pope Leo XIV was diagnosed with lung cancer. The Pope and the USCCB have asked the faithful to fervently pray for our Pope during this trial.

The Holy See Press Office confirmed Tuesday evening that the nodule removed during Pope Leo XIV’s surgery was cancerous.

Today is the Feast Day of St. Carlo Acutis, canonized by Pope Leo XIV a little over a year ago. St. Carlo Acutis, pray for us!

Tonight, while most of Springfield is asleep (10AM, Sunday, Vatican Time), Pope Leo XIV will canonize Blessed Carlo Acutis, making him the first millennial saint - a powerful witness to holiness in our digital age.

Carlo, who died at just 15, had a deep devotion to the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. He once said, “The Eucharist is my highway to heaven.” His love for Christ in the Blessed Sacrament inspired him to create a website cataloging Eucharistic miracles from around the world. His project has since become a global exhibition, reaching thousands of parishes and universities across five continents.

His work reminds us that the Catholic Church holds the True Presence of Christ — body, blood, soul, and divinity — in the Eucharist. As the Church teaches, through the power of the Holy Spirit and the words of consecration, the bread and w**e truly become Jesus Himself. This is not a symbol, but a sacred reality. The Living Christ dwells among us.

Carlo’s life is a radiant example of how holiness is possible at any age, in any era. He used technology to evangelize, lived with joy and compassion, and centered his life around the Eucharist. His canonization is a celebration not just of his life, but of the enduring truth that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist, and that this gift is available to each of us.
