Prayer Around the Cross & Compline

Prayer Around the Cross & Compline Every Thursday at 7:30pm, we g*ther digitally for Compline. On first Thursdays of the month, we g*t Sometimes there is poetry, usually there is scripture.

We meet every Wednesday evening at 5:30 for simple prayer and holy communion. Often we sing songs, a hymn for nightfall or a Taize verse. We close by sharing the peace of Christ.

Open Table Evening Prayer was a short lived project of Salem Lutheran Church around a decade ago. During the recent pandemic, we have offered Compline, or Night Prayer, via our page, every Thursday at 7:30pm. https://www.facebook.com/salemlutheranspokane/.

Next month, we will also begin offering Prayer Around the Cross in person on the first Thursday of every month. It is a simple service of singing, community, and reflection.

This page, renamed for the community that is building around these Thursday night g*therings, will be used to communicate prayer requests and plans for Compline & Prayer Around the Cross.

As with every ministry of Salem Lutheran, all are welcome to these g*therings, whether digital or embodied. I want to express a special encouragement for you to consider coming on October 7 when we try Prayer Around the Cross for the first time. We live in a moment of deep grief, hope, loss, numbness, change and trauma. This simple liturgy can help us bear those things together and draw near to the presence of God.
