Persevering Prayer
Luke 18:1 NIV Jesus said “Men ought always to pray and not give up.” Jesus gave a parable that showed us that it is important To persevere in prayer to get the desired results. Be like a dog locked on to a bone that will not let go until you have what you have asked. The parable in Luke 18 is of a widow being very persistent as she asked a selfish, non-caring, unfair judge to rule in her favor against her adversary. Her persistence wearied the judge until he finally took care of the matter for her. In the Dake’s commentary, in the Greek it was like she blackened his eye and was relentless until he gave in! It took perseverance and not giving up! Jesus said how much more would GOD who is a righteous judge give to you what you ask Him. Mark 11:24 Jesus says that whatever we ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” So the Promise is that whatever we ask for and believe that we have it, it will manifest. Keith Moore says “Time tries trust”. We know that God will do what He says. He is faithful and His Word never returns void. We have it the moment we ask. When we ask in faith, the Word is set in motion. We believe we have received it so we can rejoice and thank God for it. However, sometimes there seems to be a delay in the manifestation. Just because we don’t see it yet or feel it yet doesn’t mean that we don’t have it. We are not to be moved by what we see. Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things NOT seen. Hebrews 11:1. The answer is on the way! The angels are hastening His Word to perform it. We can stay pressing in and persevering to the answer- the desired result. Abraham believed in the promise that he would have a son. 25 years later, when it was impossible in the natural for Sarah his wife to have a baby, she bore Isaac. Abraham considered that God was able to do what He said, and He did. Later, Abraham believed that God would raise Isaac from the dead if needed, when he was tested to sacrifice his own son. His faith is the same faith that is in us. He is the Father of Faith, and his Heavenly Father is the one who taught him how to use it. The Holy Spirit is our teacher now. He will teach us how to grow the faith that we have. Everyone has been given a seed of faith, but it is up to us to use it, and grow it. If we don’t use our faith, it will become weak and useless. We will not be effective in our prayers and will live a life of defeat. Without faith, it says in Hebrews 11, it is impossible to please God. But we are not of those that have no faith! Ask forgiveness if you have been lacking, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you. He will! Note that if no faith does not please God, that if we have faith it does please Him! God is pleased with faith! When you are in the middle of a prayer, from the moment you released your faith believing you received it until the manifestation, praise God, and stand on His Word! It shall come to pass! Be tenacious. Dare to believe that what you have prayed , will come to pass. You will see the manifestation! Having done all stand (Ephesians 6:10). If you don’t quit, you win! Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective!
