It has been a week since the passing of our beloved pastor and friend, Diamond DeYampert. The grief and emotions we are all experiencing can feel overwhelming at times. But, there is a healthy way to process grief with the proper support and opportunities to share your feelings with people who care and have experience in helping people grieve.

With this in mind, we are so blessed to have Karen Monts, Director of Grief Support for Hospice of Michigan, join us for a Grief & Emotional Support Session, open to ALL who are mourning the loss of Diamond.

Karen will be facilitating this evening of comfort and support for the TFR Family and Friends this Monday, June 27 at 6:30 pm. If you were impacted by the loss of Diamond, we invite you to come and take part in this session, even if you have never attended The Freedom Room before. If you loved Diamond, you are part of the TFR family!

AN UPDATE FROM PASTOR DIAMOND'S FAMILY
(From Diamond's brother, Dennis DeYampert via Facebook)
"For everyone reading this, please be aware that, per Diamond's wishes, there will not be a funeral. There will be no extravagant event to show our love to her. Instead, we as a family ask that you celebrate her intimately with your family & loved ones. This is who she was. She was not a big party type of person. She wasn’t the one who wanted to be seen on the stage, she was more of a “sit with you in a circle type of human.” So please be respectful of her wishes. Most importantly, as you celebrate her life intimately, please share your favorite memory of her and regularly check in on those who were close to her. Thank you,"

HOW IS TFR MOVING FORWARD?
The Freedom Room is honoring the family's wishes of not having a public memorial for Pastor Diamond. As a church it is vital that we continue to comfort and support each other through this time of mourning via texts, phone calls, or visits with one another. Laura and I will continue to open up our home to everyone who is in need of comfort, support, a good laugh or a deep cry.

As for what's next at TFR:
To allow all of us at The Freedom Room an opportunity to spend time with our friends and family on Father's Day and as we are continuing to try and process the loss of our pastor and friend, we WILL NOT BE GATHERING tomorrow, Sunday June 19, for the planned walkthrough of the new space.

At this time, the top priority of the TFR team is finding the best way to meet the IMMEDIATE needs of our people - offering comfort, providing counseling, and staying connected. If you are in need of support or care of ANY KIND, please contact me at [email protected]. We are here for you at any time and for any reason. It's okay to not be okay, just don't be not okay alone.

We WILL be finding an appropriate way to gather together soon as a Church Family to celebrate life, laugh together, and most importantly, love each other. While it's true Diamond didn't want us to celebrate HER with a big party or event, it's also true that what our Diamond wanted more than anything was for all of us to celebrate life TOGETHER, and make every gathering a PARTY. And, this we will do.
OUR SINCEREST "THANKS"

Finally, to everyone around the WORLD who has reached out to all of us at The Freedom Room - you have shown your love and support in both words and deeds, and the TFR family cannot thank you enough. Your continued prayers and support will be critical as we navigate our way forward.

It is with overwhelming sadness that we share the devastating news of the passing of our Pastor and Founder, Diamond DeYampert. Pastor Diamond was a light to the world and positively impacted the lives of everyone who had the great fortune to know her. Her love for Christ, for all people, and the City of Detroit are the inspiration and example we will carry with us as we remember her and continue her legacy.

At this time, we ask for prayers for Diamond’s family, loved ones, and for all of us at The Freedom Room.

We will share details of memorials and celebrations of Diamond’s life and legacy as they become available.

Together and To Jesus,

The Freedom Room Family
