Refuge Haiti News Re: Dominican Republic

DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND FRIENDS,
GREETINGS TO EACH OF YOU IN JESUS NAME! I PRAY YOU ARE ENJOYING THE LORD WHO LOVES YOU SOOO MUCH!
ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO OUR DEAR FRIEND AND BROTHER, BISHOP/PASTOR SERGE COULANGES INTRODUCED ME TO A PASTOR ON THE PHONE WHEN SERGE WAS IN CAZEAU, HAITI. THIS PASTOR'S NAME IS: JEAN (PRONOUNCED JOHN) BRENORD. HIS WIFE'S NAME IS DUONA. PASTOR JEAN IS THE PASTOR OF A POOR CHURCH IN A TOWN CALLED EL ALMIRANTE, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. SERGE TOLD ME AT THAT TIME THEY NEEDED A CHURCH BUILDING BUILT. EL ALMIRANTE IS A NORTH SUBURB OF SANTA DOMINGO. THE CHURCH IS GROWING FAST (350 PEOPLE NOW). THE RENT THERE IS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR THEM. I HAVE TALKED TO OUR DEAR BROTHER SERGE LAST WEEK AND HE WAS SO EXCITED TO HEAR THAT THE CHURCH BUILDING COULD BE BUILT FOR THE CHURCH. HE GAVE HIS APPROVAL FOR REFUGE TO PAY FOR THE LAND AND HE WILL HELP PASTOR JEAN WITH THE PAPER WORK AND HAVE A TEAM IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC BUILD THE BUILDING. THE BOARD OF REFUGE GAVE THEIR APPROVAL ALREADY TO BUY THE LAND.
I AM SO EXCITED WITH OUR DEAR BROTHER PASTOR JEAN, BISHOP SERGE AND OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN EL ALMIRANTE, THAT THE KINGDOM OF OUR DEAR LORD IS GOING FORWARD!
MANY MORE WILL BE SAVED AND COME TO OUR WONDERFUL LORD JESUS!
WILL YOU PLEASE PRAY WITH ME THAT FUNDS WILL BE DONATED TO HELP THESE POOR BROTHERS AND SISTERS HAVE A PLACE TO MEET AND THAT HUNDREDS AND MAYBE THOUSANDS WILL BE SAVED.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR FATHFULNESS AND HELP AS THE KINGDOM OF OUR LORD GOES FORWARD.
PLEASE SEND DONATIONS BY CHECK TO: REFUGE, PO BOX 4628, SOUTH COLBY, WA 98384, OR GO TO REFUGEMIS

April 2022- News from DeGrava, Haiti
We wanted to share some news with our followers and supporters of REFUGE HAITI. We are so excited to tell you that the Christian School at Degrava, Haiti has the walls all the way up now. It is now ready for the steel rafters and roof.

This is so exciting for many children and families in this area of Haiti because there has been no school for the children in Degrava (Degrave) for many years. Now a school will be available for so many children. As most of you know only 10% of the schools in Haiti are public schools. So in this area there needed to be a school built for the children. The awesome thing is that this school is in the middle of what was a stronghold of voodoo. But now there is a Christian Church and a Christian School side by side in this area. The church with REFUGE help was built about 12 years ago. So many are coming to Christ Jesus and many more will. There is a Bible study everyday in the all of the schools we build in Haiti!!

We want to thank so many of you who have donated to help us build this Christian School to touch many children for Christ Jesus. So many of you are regular contributors and we are so thankful for all you are doing every month! You are making a huge difference and touching thousands of lives every year! Think of the people who will be in Heaven because you helped.
As we reviewed the donations from the last 5 years, we have more than double the donations, and double the number of students who are being sponsored that otherwise would not be able to attend school. These children are the ones who have bible study in school, each day and spread the gospel to their own families. We are providing very simple but functional buildings that as you can see from our website, have gone from pole buildings to block and concrete structures. One church that was completed has a parking lot available for only 6 cars, yet has an attendance of 3000 people. When Refuge Started, Haiti was almost entirely practicing Voodoo, but now due to the Christian churches, and schools that have been built, the population has approximately 40% Christian believers. God is doing an amazing work with your help and support, just as He is in so many countries where we think hope is gone.
Here is the latest report to Bishop Coulanges in Haiti regarding our latest answer to provide more assistance.
Dear Covenant Brother and Bon Zanmi Serge,
I pray the Lord is helping you through this difficult time and is encouraging you. He who created us is our help in the time of trouble! Praise His wonderful name.

I am so excited to tell you the money was deposited today for the school roof at Degrave. 13000.00 was deposited today at Bank of America for the rafters and roof.

Also 820.00 was deposited also for several other people people. $135.00 for tuition and clothes for Jodlin Sidrack there in the Cazeau area. $135.00 for tuition and clothes for Catalea Vilmar there in the Cazeau area. Also 75.00 for Matcherina Delphin and her family near Coupon (given to Pastor Mc-Intosh for them). Also $75.00 for Lovena Dorcely and her family near Coupon (Given to Pastor Mc-Intosh for them).
$200.00 for Deacon Franck Elcinus and his family (two months of money). And also $200.00 for Deacon Dieuseul Dorival and his family (two months of money).

Much blessing of the Lord to you my dear friend.

As a reminder, 100% of all funds received by the Board members at REFUGE is sent to Haiti. Last year we were able to send close to $69,000 for tuition, food, helping the poor, and construction projects and repairs. This is an amazing answer to prayer and evidence that we can be an answer to others prayers!
Photos of our new projects are slow in coming. It is often difficult to relay our needs and have immediate replies. As soon as we are able, the photos of our current projects will be posted.
Thank you all again for your support of Gods children in Haiti.
Love in Christ

This is the current church that will no longer be available unless the owner agrees to allow refuge to purchase it. This can be done if owner agrees and we can come up with the money needed to make it happen. Please pray for God’s help in continuing to allow the people of Haiti to experience His love and plans for them to hear the message of Jesus Christ and salvation.

Latest info from our brothers in Haiti.

Please see the email below from our dear Brother and Friend Pastor and Bishop Serge Coulanges. He just shared with me a need that the church in Duval has regarding loosing their place to meet. Photos of the land and old church building are attached. Duval is located between Coupon and Degrave, Haiti.

The owner of the land and building in Duval is no longer willing to rent the building to them. He wants to sell the property and the old church building there around March of this year. Regarding the church in Duval I am asking Serge if payments can be made on the land and church building there so they can keep the property. That is what Serge and the Pastor there wants to do. I am asking Serge also if it is possible or not if they can make some type of down payment and then payments once every three months for the land and building there. He thinks that will work if he can get the owner to agree and sign a document to that agreement.

The problem is we are currently helping with building a Christian School in Degrave, Haiti and are trying to get it done so the children there have a place to go to school. This will be exciting to have this large Christian school completed. The school will touch so many children’s lives for Christ Jesus. It will have a Bible Study everyday for all the students. So many that do not know the Lord Jesus will learn of His wonderful love and that He is alive. It will hold about 400 students each year and have a big impact in this strong voodoo area. This is a big vision for Pastor and Bishop Serge as well as the vision we have as the Board of REFUGE to reach the next generation for Christ Jesus in Haiti.

Please pray with me as the church in Haiti grows. Sometimes it is so very hard to see the huge need in Haiti and so many that are in need. It can be overwhelming. But I give it to the Lord and say Lord You see the need. Please provide and God does! Thank you so much to each of you for your faithfulness and prayers.
May the Lord pour out His love and healing on you today in Jesus name.

Dear Bon Zanmi Don,
The church pictures attached is the is Duval. It's between Coupon and Degrave. Currently the rent we had in Duval is running out. The owner says he is wanting to sell and no longer rent anymore. He's looking for other people. So, I'm doing my best if we can give him a down payment in March. So the church there in Duval will have a place to meet.

May God bless you and keep you.

Latest news from our mission in Haiti

Dear Brothers, Sisters and Friends,
I have talked to our Brother and Friend, Bishop and Pastor Serge Coulanges in Haiti two times in the last week. Part of what I want is share is hard but some is very exciting news.

Serge said things are getting very difficult. He said that police protection is so weak because many of the police are not getting paid to protect the people. So if you call the police they do not come to help. The bad people are are involved in gangs. This is not how is has been in the past in Haiti. In the past the police were there to stop the bad people from taking control. He told me that the large hospital in Port-au-Prince is now closed because they no longer have a generator. The very large generator or several of them were stolen by the gangs of bad people. Many people are dieing because this hospital is closed.

He said the big problem is that the gangs of bad people (voodoo people) are controlling the gas at the ports so that gas or diesel is not available at most of the gas stations. This means most of the food grown in the mountains cannot get to the city to be sold to the people who live in the city. This is raising the price of the food available in the city. Now the prices of food are sometimes two, three of four times the cost of what it was before. This is very hard on everyone and many are dieing of starvation including little children.

Serge said many or the churches are having a three day fast and prayer to bring change to the government and that God will intervene to bring much needed change. Please pray with me as I am praying with Brother Serge and our brothers and sisters and friends there in Haiti. There is suppose to be an election for a new president of Haiti in June. But the change needs to come much sooner. Thousands will die before June. Please pray with me that God will cause a real mirracle to happen to bring change.

Brother Serge and I also talked about the exciting opportunity of building the new Christian School in Degrave, Haiti (pronounced Degrava). This is an area that has been strongly voodoo in the past. The name means the grave. This is part of our Brother Serge’s vision to reach the next generation for Christ Jesus and bring them out of voodoo. The school foundation is completed and the walls are almost done now. They are almost ready to have the steel rafters made and a sheet metal roof. But the roof needs to be paid for before we our brothers in Haiti can put it on the new school.

As you know only 10% of the schools in Haiti are public schools. There is no other school at all for the children in the entire Degrave area. This school we are currently building will be full from the very beginning it opens. It will have 400 students. If you can imagine with me and have a vision with Serge, me and the other board members of REFUGE we are reaching lives and families for Christ Jesus and at the same time giving children an education that will give them a future where they will have decent jobs to earn a living.

If you would like to help us get the school done in Degrave for the children in that area. Degrave is about 100 miles North of Port-au-Prince and is a rural area where there is food being grown. Or if you would like to help with food money for the poor in the Port-au-Prince area, please send a donation to: REFUGE, P.O. Box 4628, South Colby, WA 98384. Or if you would like to donate on our website, refugemissions.org just click on the Donate Now button. Please note: REFUGE is a 501(c)(3) non profit so your donation is tax deductible. Also if you give by check 100% of what you give goes directly to Haiti. If you give by credit card PayPal charges REFUGE 1.9%. This is the non profit rate so it is much lower than the normal PayPal fee.Which ever you choose to give we want to thank you for your love and kindness to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

God bless you for your love, kindness, prayers and donations. Thank you so much to each of you who give each month to REFUGE. You are making a huge difference. So many are coming to the Lord because of your commitment.

I want to give an update on news from Haiti and thank all of our supporters for helping accomplish Gods plans in Haiti. Here is the latest news that Don has received from pastor Coulange in Haiti:

Dear Friends and Brothers and Sisters,
Greetings to each of you! First I want to say a special word of thanks to each of you who have given so unselfishly to help our hurting brothers and sisters in Haiti. It touched them so deeply and overwhelmed our Brother and friend Serge Coulanges, the Board of REFUGE, and me. You are wonderful brothers and sisters.

Our dear Brother and friend Pastor and Bishop Serge in Haiti called a couple days ago and shared a lot of what is going on in Haiti right now. He was telling me how thankful all of our brothers and sisters are in the earthquake area of Haiti on the Southern Peninsula. The LaZile area on the Southern Peninsula was hit very hard. But because of your prayers and donations to REFUGE a large Medical Team was able to go and help hundreds and hundreds of our brothers and sisters and their neighbors too. Also lots of food, clean water, medical supplies, many tents, clothes including much needed shoes and blankets were taken to the LaZile area. Serge wanted us to know how they continue to be thankful for all the help we have given to help so many in need. Also they are so thankful for our prayers for them.

Pastor and Bishop Serge also shared a desperate need of a school for children in the Degrava area of Haiti. Degrava is way North of LaZile. It is approximately 120 miles from LaZile. There is no school in that entire area. So there is no school for the children who live there. In Haiti only 10% of the schools are public schools. This is a very sad situation to see. These children will have little or no hope but to live in severe poverty because they will not be able to read or write. Also this is an awesome opportunity for us to share the “loving Gospel of Christ Jesus” with hundreds of children now and then thousands through the years. We are seeing a huge change in Haiti because of the Christian Schools we are building. Each Christian School has prayer and a Bible Study every day. The church we built in Degrave is in the middle of a large voo-doo area and the school will be on the same property.

We are so excited to reach the next generation of Haitians for Christ Jesus in the Degrava area. The foundation for the school is already done. We are ready to build the walls and put the roof on next. Our dear Brothers Serge wants to start the walls the first week of November and have the school ready for the children by the first week of January. The parents there are very poor and need our help. The children there are so excited that they get to go to school. Also think of the many that will be in Heaven because they got to know and receive Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

If you would like to help these dear children, please pray with us. If you would like to donate to help please send a check of any amount to: REFUGE, P.O. Box 4628, South Colby, WA 98384 or use our PayPal donation button on our website refugemissions.org. Thank you to each of you who give regularly to REFUGE. You are making a huge difference in so many lives. Right now we have almost enough to get the walls done for the school. Then we will need to have money for the steel doors and concrete blocks with holes in them for windows. And then concrete to pour the floor and money for the rafters and corrugated sheet metal for the roof. Again thank you so much.

I pray the Lord will bless you and pour out His love upon you and in you.

UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER

We would like to thank all those who have donated to Refuge. We have had to postpone repair and construction projects temporarily and use the money for those projects to provide temporary shelter (tents) to so many who have either lost their homes or their homes are unsafe due to the earthquake. So many have had to sleep in the open even in the midst of all the tropical storms and rain, and many are taking refuge in church building deemed safe. There was a desperate request for food and temporary shelter and recent donations allowed us to send $8000 to assist with these needs. There are gangs who control the main roads and they are stealing anything of value, including food, which greatly adds to the difficulty of providing help to those in desperate need. Unemployment is rampant, over 50%, gas in short supply, and food prices are rapidly increasing. Your continued support and prayers are greatly appreciated. God is still at work and it is at times such as these that the Light of Christ shines more brightly for those without any other hope. In blessing others, you will be blessed. Please, continue your support🙏
Your REFUGE board members.
