Does Your Fruit Match Your Words?

Some sermons today sound more like motivational talks than the message of the cross. And let’s be honest, it’s not because God changed. It’s because preachers stopped confronting sin.

If all you want is applause, comfort, and followers, then yes, keep sugar-coating the truth.
But don’t expect lives to be transformed.
Don’t expect sinners to repent.
Don’t expect souls to be saved.

Because a soft gospel produces soft Christians, and soft Christians do not survive spiritual warfare.

The Bible is not a pillow to make you comfortable.
It is a sword meant to cut away anything that keeps you from God.

“For the word of God is alive and active… sharper than any double-edged sword.” — Hebrews 4:12

So if the Word isn’t cutting anymore, maybe it’s not the Word that changed, maybe it’s the preaching.

Paul warned us about this kind of preaching:

"They will not endure sound doctrine… but will gather teachers who say what their itching ears want to hear.” - 2 Timothy 4:3

If your sermon only tells people what they want to hear and never what they need to hear, that’s not ministry, that’s manipulation.

If your teaching never convicts, never challenges, never confronts sin, You’re not feeding the sheep… You’re entertaining the goats.

Jesus never sugar-coated anything.
He preached truth even when it drove people away, because His mission was salvation, not popularity.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:32

But no one gets set free by lies dressed as encouragement.

A Gospel without repentance is not the Gospel.
A sermon without correction is not preaching.
A church without truth is not the Church.

Preach the Word, all of it.
Even when it stings.
Even when it offends.
Even when people walk away.

Because heaven rejoices over a sinner who repents, not over a crowd that claps.
