Kirat Rai Yayokkha Society of South Dakota (SDA) is a vibrant non-profit cultural and community-based organization founded by members of the Kirat Rai ethnic group residing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Rooted in the ancient traditions of the Kirati civilization of eastern Nepal, the society is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and passing down the unique cultural, linguistic, and spiritual heritage of the Kirat Rai people to future generations.

At the core of the group’s identity are traditional festivals such as Ubhauli and Udhauli, which celebrate the harmony between nature and humanity through Sakela dance and ancestral rituals. These sacred observances reflect the deep ecological wisdom and spiritual beliefs of the Kirat Rai culture.

Beyond cultural preservation, the Kirat Rai Yayokkha Society of South Dakota fosters unity, mutual support, and a strong sense of identity among the Kirat Rai diaspora in the United States—helping bridge generations and keep ancestral traditions alive far from their Himalayan origins.
