Dear UW Family,
We wanted to address the most recent events that are happening throughout our nation, how to respond biblically as Christians, to encourage us in the faith and how we can excel still more in our walk with Jesus Christ. Amidst the chaos of countries shutting down, people losing their jobs, economies failing, and having to rely on stimulus checks and unemployment benefits; there is violence and injustice still happening on the topic of racism.
You can ask, “Where is God in the mist of all of this? And I say, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit,” says Psalm 34:18. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me,” says Psalm 23:4. All over in the Bible, you see God is near to his people, and ultimately you see God the Son who “did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross”, Philippians 2:6-8.
1 Peter 4:12-13 says, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trail when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” We are all painfully learning through this COVID-19 pandemic is that nothing on earth is secure. Our jobs, the economy, our money, and even our lives do not bring security that lasts, but only Christ can bring an eternal unwavering security, so hold tight, excel still more, and keep the faith.

Also, as UW seeks to help the next generation grow into spiritual leaders, we initiated Media Ministry to reach out to the community. The covid-19 crisis is difficult for all communities. We pray that you are encouraged by the gospel message presented in the video. God’s blessings!
