Encouraging Words from “Thoughts”

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 8:12

Good afternoon and blessed Tuesday. Rain, snow, or sunshine, may you have the best day ever. Today, I wish to start out with words of thanksgiving to the One who keeps my feet from slipping:

ABBA Father,
I Thank You Lord that You are always with us. Everywhere we are You are there at our right hand, guiding and watching over us. May we remember to commit our ways, thoughts, and plans to You today, so You might establish them, according to Your Word. Thank You for Your Unfailing Love, Grace, and Promises and for just being You! In Jesus' Mighty Name I pray, for Your Name Sake and Glory alone, Amen.

This afternoon may we trust in the Lord in a new and deeper way than ever before. The world we live in, with its encroaching darkness and wickedness constantly at the door, can sometimes make it difficult for us to see the beauty and uniqueness in our lives plus, the Absolute Awesomeness of our Creator, and His promised Faithfulness. Yet, our Savior Jesus Christ, has given us His Light of Life (John 8:12). The loving, caring illumination He personally is, He's promised to us freely that we may walk through this world doing His work-good work-in complete and utter confidence. Let Him be your peace today, as He guides you in all truth. Trust God with your whole heart; leaving your own understanding behind, for His is better (Proverbs 3:5-6)! Let God be the leader in everything, then let go and enjoy His company and your day. Trust the Beautiful One who created and designed your life! It will be the best decision you've ever made!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
Proverbs 3:5-8

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."
Proverbs 16:9

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Psalms 23

Thoughts of Reflection

A wise person once said this about suffering and sorrow:

“How do you pray when you suffer? Some believers feel pressured to polish their pain with God’s promises, tending more towards a positive reaction to their situation. Others find that their sorrow is so great that they can’t bring themselves to speak to God. The reality is that suffering is complex—and praying through pain is hard. But Scripture has not left us without a way forward. And you don't have to choose between silence or optimism. You can lament. Lament allows you to fight for hope by wrestling honestly with the Lord.”

Suffering and sorrow are hard. They’re extremely personal, with no personal advice or words of encouragement from others helping at times. In this type of season, we need to do more listening than speaking as mankind. We need to be there as comforters, not just physically, but also emotionally, with care and not comment. We must listen well and reflect, for all of us have suffered some sort of loss in life. Grief and sorrow from death are for the living, as those who’ve passed on are in a better place. If they’ve believed on the Name of our Savior they’re in their heavenly home, no longer suffering or afflicted. Lamenting is not complaint. It’s a way of prayer and worship that God respects. The Psalmist David did much lamenting. He brought his grief and concerns to God then thanked Him for all He’d done for him in remembrance. Whether our laments are bold, confident, and full of hopeful expectation of God’s rising in the midst of our conflict or petitions that come from a place of weariness and desperation, which beg Him to listen and draw close, all are important to our Creator. Suffering, sorrow, and grief make trembling laments seem the last resort; the final whispered word from our person. But are they really? God cares when we hurt. He cares when we suffer. When our pain is so great we can’t find the words to pray, it breaks His heart. There’s no easy path to the removal of grief and suffering. It’s a process that must be worked through with the help of God’s loving Spirit. Our posture before Him should be that of children-needy and dependent-for our help comes only from Him. Whatever we’re suffering through today, whether it’s a death, a relationship breach, or some personal failure, God is there to embrace us as His children. Will we let him do that today? Will we give our suffering over to the One who can help us the most? He’s waiting for us. Will we go?

”Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.“
Psalms 61:1-4

”My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest. Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises. In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.“
Psalms 22:1-5
