Hi friends!
My birthday is right around the corner and instead of asking everyone to donate to a nonprofit that is near and dear to my heart, I thought i would very publicly and very shamelessly ask for donations to my personal library!
As most of you know, I am an avid reader, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I am asking for books, ha!
HOWEVER I am asking for SPECIFIC books
PARTICULARLY BANNED BOOKS as well as history books not centered around colonization or the empirical lens.
Owning physical copies of banned books and history books written by the people most affected by empirical policies is so important, especially in this particular day and age as fascism continues to rise quickly around the world.
We all know Hi**er hosted book burnings after he rose to power, but what most historians don't tell you is Hi**er began by burning the books that were at the German Institute for Gender And Sexuality. He targeted books that were written by lgbt researchers and he destroyed decades of research into gender and sexuality.
Book bans are never coincidental, they are targeted
Which is why most of the banned books today are books that deal with LGBTQIA+ or racial lessons.
Digital books can be deleted, edited, redacted, or erased in order to please overlords.
But physical copies remain unchanged.
I have curated a couple lists on Amazon (I know, I know) of both banned books, as well as history books written by minority voices, which i will add in the comments. I am always open to suggestions in case I have missed any books, but please dm me about them because I might have them all ready in my home library (looking at you, The Hate U Give)
If you don't want to order off the zon please let me know and I will happily provide my address to you via DM.
Also when given the option I have chosen hard backs, as they have a tendency to be a bit sturdier over time, but if you can't afford the hardback I will happily accept paperbacks as well.
The links to the lists will be in the comments below, if you choose to help a friend out.
I appreciate you all and thank you in advance for helping me curate a personal library the government is afraid of!
