Watching a student grow into a colleague, a friend, and family is one of the greatest privileges of teaching.

Ms. Avery first walked into Finley Piano Studio as a piano student, grew into a student teacher, and went on to teach with us for 5 inspiring years. Over time, she became so much more than a talented teacher. She has been a co-worker, a daughter figure, and a dear friend.

Words cannot describe how truly honored I was to officiate her wedding and stand by her side as she stepped into this wonderful new chapter of her life. My heart is bursting with joy and happy emotions for her, though we will all miss her deeply at the studio!

Please join me in wishing Ms Avery a lifetime of love, laughter, and beautiful memories!

Drum roll please…. Sawyer is the winner of our summer how many songs can you play challenge. The rules were steep. For a song to count it had to be at level or higher, have all counting, note reading, technique etc correct. Sawyer mastered 40 songs in 8 weeks!! He was rewarded with an entire book of his favorite songs and a king size chocolate bar. SO proud of your hard work Sawyer!!

Senior Highlight. Sweet Ava stole my heart in her very first lesson where she brought her cat given to her by her teacher before me. She brought it every week religiously to sit on the piano and do lessons with us. Ava and I have such a special bond, it is unbelievably hard to believe this sweet girl just graduated!!

When seniors graduate and have their last ever piano lesson it is always bitter sweet. This little guy started with me as one of my first groups of students in my Shelbyville studio about 10 years ago. It was such a sweet last lesson today. Best of luck to you Isaac in college. I can’t wait to hear all the amazing stories your future brings!!
