The decision to have only One Worship Service on Sunday was obviously the correct one. With many away for the 3-day weekend, it allowed our Church Family the rare opportunity for all of us to be able to Worship together in a packed sanctuary. And our Sanctuary was full, even with extra chairs being added. (PTL!) Secondly, it also gave David Fox the opportunity to share his announcement with everyone at one time.
And by now, I am sure that you are aware that David has accepted the position of Associational Missionary for Red River Baptist Association. He and Carrie will be moving to the Arkadelphia area next month for him to begin this new ministry. I know that most of you were like me: Even though you realize that the Lord has opened a new door of ministry for David and Carrie, you are still sad that they are leaving Valley. Personally, I do not like change! And Beverly and I have been especially saddened at the news of David and Carrie leaving. Not only has David been an Excellent Executive Pastor, but they have been a part of our lives and ministry for over 25 years. David has not just been a valuable member of our Staff, but more importantly, he is a close friend and brother in Christ. And Carrie is such a Godly woman. We will greatly miss both of them!
David and Carrie will continue to serve and worship with us here at Valley through Sunday, June 14, including David leading our Mission Trip to Nicaragua that will be leaving next Friday, June 5, and returning the following Friday, June 12. With Sunday, June 14, being their final Sunday on staff here at Valley, plans are already underway for a Church-Wide Reception on Sunday night, June 14, for David, Carrie and Ruthie. And as they follow the Lord’s Leadership, the Fox Family will always be a part of our Valley Family! (Much more will be said in the coming days!)
Now, I want to encourage the Parents of children 5 and under, to make a Special Effort to come to our first “Pool Party” for families of “Valley Littles” this Friday, May 29, starting around 5:00 pm. It will be at Monte and Tammy Hays’ Home at 110 Club Creek Drive in Searcy. There will be lots of food and water activities, including swimming. And you will hear about a New Opportunity each Friday this summer where Mothers and their kids can come together on a weekly basis for fun and fellowship with other Moms in our Church. Ruth Collier and Whitney Leonard are leading this ministry and will explain it fully this Friday afternoon. Please be at this “Pool Party.”
Our Vacation Bible School is here! It begins this Sunday evening, May 31 for the entire Family. It’s always one of the Greatest Weeks of the year! We will have classes for all ages (Babies-Senior Adults). We will begin each night with a Free Snack Supper for all the Children and VBS Workers, beginning at 5:15 pm. The Youth will be having their own meals in our Student Building, and Brian and our Youth leaders have a Great VBS for our 7th-12th graders. VBS is from 6:00-8:30 pm (Sunday-Wednesday). I will again be teaching our Adult Class in the Sanctuary from 7:00-8:00 pm. Do Not Miss VBS!
And Do Not Miss being in our Special Services this Sunday! We will Be Back to our Regular Schedule, including Sunday School at 9:30. And yes, the Services on Sunday morning are going to be Very Special. In both our 8:00 am and 10:30 am Services we will be observing the Lord’s Supper. As you enter the Sanctuary, our Deacons will make sure you receive both the bread and juice in the familiar cup-container!
It is going to be a powerful Sunday morning! I hope you are Back and ready to Worship our Lord! See you then.
His & Yours,
Bro. James
