New Creation Addiction Ministries

New Creation Addiction Ministries Our mission is to see people transformed into the likeness of Christ. We believe that the root of all addiction is sin and the answer to sin is Jesus Christ.

Therefore, our first priority is to lead those who are lost to the saving power of Christ. The lost can be delivered from their addictions, cleansed by the blood of Christ, and transformed into a New Creation.

Hope everyone’s week is going well and that your morning has started off great. Today, we’d like to share another testimony from one of the men in Jail. We publish these stories of gratitude not for attention, fame, to get put up on a pedestal or anything else of that nature, but to give praise to the Lord.

While He does use me to get through to these men, I don’t want credit for the change. It is Jesus who is transforming these men. There are also many people who support New Creation—prayerfully and financially—and while they’re not on the front lines, they are an integral part of this ministry. This is an operation of the body of Christ, not just one man.

Also a huge thank you to my wife. Without her prayer and support, I wouldn’t be able to do a lot of what I do.

Hello, brothers and sisters in Christ,

I am an inmate at the Scott County Jail. I’m one of the many who is very blessed to get to attend the biblical discipleship groups.

These groups help me understand the Word way more than I could trying to read & study it on my own. They always bring me hope, love, joy, peace, and friendship. I look forward to going each time we get to. They have given me a happiness words cannot express.

I am very thankful for Tim & everyone who is involved with bringing or blessing us with the groups. Thank you for all the work you do for us.

Maybe God bless you all abundantly.

Your loving brother in Christ.

Good morning, may your day be filled with thankfulness!

Just because someone grows up in the faith or comes to Christ later in life doesn’t mean that he or she can’t make bad choices and end up facing tough consequences. I’ve always said that these guys in the Jail were praying for a way out of their lifestyle/sin—and sometimes that way out comes in the form of handcuffs. (I know that was the case for me. If it wasn’t for New Creation I wouldn’t have the life I have today!)

Because of this, I often cross paths with them while they’re incarcerated and have the opportunity to gently love them and lead them back to Christ. It’s a joy to see them restored to the Lord and walking out their faith again, even though they’re still dealing with the consequences of their actions.

When I read the letter of gratitude below, I was reminded of Colossians 2:6, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness.”

To New Creation Addiction Ministries,

I hope this letter finds you all of good health and in good spirits. Wanted to take a few minutes of your time to express gratitude for your ministry that takes the time to visit our facility. It has been a blessing for me and has allowed me to reconnect and grow spiritually. I had been praying for some type of class or Bible study, and a few weeks after reaching out to Jail Commander, I was called out after signing up. Our private time with the Lord is important, but it’s also good to fellowship with other brothers who are searching for or trying to seek the same God.

I also would like to thank Tim for coming in. The biblical discipleship class that he leads has really been a blessing for me. I am always excited about attending because Tim is always prepared, and what I love the most is when something is asked that he doesn’t know, he doesn’t try to talk around it, but is willing to try and find it for the next week.

The opportunity to learn and grow is available to anyone who attends and has an open heart. I’m blessed to have known the Lord before attending the class, but I get revived and learn something new every week. Like any other human, I have things that I struggle with, but the class helps me to stay grounded and humble.

I’m about to finish a book that Tim gave me to read called “Gods at War”, by Kyle Idleman. It really broke things down and put my thinking in a different direction. I actually can’t wait to share or teach some of the things that I have gotten out of this book.

Again, I want to thank you all for your ministry and thank Tim for coming in every week to teach and share with us.

Happy Friday! As we close out this work week, we’d like to share a story of hope and transformation in Christ Jesus.

This past Sunday, I was blessed to be able to share about New Creation with New Bethel Church and interview Jason Wilson. It is always an honor and a privilege to be invited to share what New Creation is doing in our community.

Jason and I met in the Scott County Jail almost a year ago. When we first met, he said that he did not believe in God at all, but he found hope in what I was teaching in class and began trying to make sense of it.

Over time, the Holy Spirit worked on Jason, and he began to find healing and a sense of purpose with his life based on what I was teaching out of God’s Word. Once Jason was released, he had to turn himself into the Floyd County Jail, which he did. He took with him all of his certificates and achievements that he had received during his incarceration in Scott County, not only from New Creation, but also other non-profits working in the Jail.

Jason said it was the first time a judge had ever complimented him and spoken kindly to him in regards to him turning his life around.

From there, the judge released him to a sober living home in Corydon. It wasn’t a court order either. Jason wanted to do this on his own. While he was there, Jason got plugged into a local church named New Hope. That is where he surrendered to Jesus and was baptized into Christ.

Next month marks one year that New Creation has been discipling him. We stay in contact almost weekly.

His interview at New Bethel Church was the first time he’d given his testimony in front of the body of Christ. We talked about life before Christ, Jason’s rock-bottom, and his experience in the Scott County Jail. We also talked about his life after his release from incarceration, how Jesus is helping him rebuild his life, and how the Lord is helping him restore his relationships with his son and granddaughter. We finished out the interview with him encouraging the congregation and talking about the importance of jail ministry.

In order for this to happen, I had to go to Jeffersonville Sunday morning and pick Jason up. While taking him back home after church, I was invited to his son and daughter-in-law’s baby shower, where I got to meet his family and friends. They were all very, very thankful for how New Creation has played a key role in the new Jason. He is not the same man they knew.

I told them that I’d love to take credit, but I can’t—Jesus transformed him, not me. I’m just part of the means the Lord used to do it.

Jason described Sunday as one of the best days he’s ever had. He was also amazed at the love and compassion he was shown by New Bethel. It was a beautiful morning and such a sweet time of fellowship. Brent Calloway asked my daughter Lily to close us out with prayer.

I’m trying really hard not to get long-winded here, but there are so many more pieces to the story of Jason getting to this point in the last year. It is an incredible reminder of how the Lord works behind the scenes and around us, even when we don’t realize what He’s doing.

Jason still has a lot to overcome as he continues to learn how to walk in the newness of Christ. Would you remember him in your prayers?

As always, thank you for your prayer and support of New Creation. We could not do what we do without you. Jail ministry matters. Jesus came to seek and save the lost—and as long as someone is still breathing, there’s hope.

Hello, everyone, hope your 2026 is off to a good start. If you’re struggling right now, we pray for comfort and peace for you. If you’re rejoicing right now, we rejoice with you.

As 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 remind us, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Today we would like to share a few ministry updates with you.

As a reminder, New Creation offers support services, leadership development, and unconditional encouragement, etc. to those who are incarcerated and join our ministry. Our mission is to transform habitual addicts or those who have an out-of-control, negative, and manipulative lifestyle into the likeness of Christ through intense discipleship, radical love, and a structured environment that allows the chains of bo***ge to be broken.

New Creation continues to be a beacon of light in the Scott County Jail. This year marks our 11th year teaching biblical discipleship in a classroom setting. For 11 years, we’ve had the Wednesday morning timeslot from 9AM-11AM. We also do class on Thursday mornings from 9AM-11AM, and this year we added a third day again, which is now Fridays from 9AM-11AM.

I also have three volunteers who come in and help facilitate class, as well as making connections and building relationships with these men. This helps to provide the men with another resource and allows us to walk alongside them when they are released. Obviously, not all men accept this invitation, but a lot of them do.

We primarily use the 33 Series curriculum, which has six volumes, to teach these men how to overcome the past and move forward in the newness of life, while also trying to combat the consequences of their life choices.

The 33 Series was designed to help men understand who they are, what they were created to do here on this earth, and how to live productive lives and lead their families well, all from a biblical standpoint. We navigate how to overcome past dysfunction in these men’s families so they don’t repeat it with their own children, as well as teaching them about healthy relationships and how to manage finances well.

We also discuss and break down a wide range of topics, from childhood trauma, coping with grief and the loss of a loved one, anger management, forgiveness, parenting, healthy boundaries, and life skills, to chemical dependency, relapse prevention, and accepting responsibility and consequences for choices and actions, etc.

This is all done through the lens of Scripture. “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” ~ Romans 10:17

New Creation is very thankful and full of gratitude that we are allowed to operate within the Scott County Jail as a means to help those who want a faith-based option.

In addition, thank you for all of you who continue to keep our family, this ministry, and these men in prayer, and also those of you who support New Creation financially. We are all making a difference for the Kingdom of God.

We regret to inform you all that New Creation’s 2025 Annual Dinner has been canceled, due to various circumstances outside of our control. This decision was not made lightly, and a great deal of prayer was involved. We are disappointed, but we believe this is the best decision.

Thank you all for your prayer and support of this ministry. We hope to see you next year!

New Creation's 9th Annual Banquet is approaching quickly! Come join us on Friday, November 14th at 6:30 PM for a night of great food, great music, and testimonies of what the Lord is doing in our community through our ministry.

If you haven't bought a table or purchased an individual ticket, you need to so by November 7th. It's a catered dinner, and Jan Collins needs plenty of advance notice for food prep.

As many of you know by now, this past Friday, Mike Stevens, a great man of God, went home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, and I know that Jesus has told him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Come and share your master’s happiness!”

While we rejoice that Mike is with Christ, it is also a time of mourning for his family and those of us who cared deeply about him. Please lift up Rita and the rest of the family in prayer now and in the next several months ahead.

Three years ago, when Mike was first diagnosed with cancer, his son Jeremy collected a bunch of letters from individuals whose lives had been greatly impacted by Mike. Jeremy gave those letters to his dad to remind him of the impact he’s had on so many people in our community for the Kingdom of God.

I was one of those individuals.

New Creation exists because of a father’s love for his son and the vision his son had for our community and incarcerated men battling addiction.

I wanted to share the letter I wrote for Mike with all of you as a testimony to Mike’s faithfulness in following Jesus. Every word still rings as true today as it did when I wrote it three years ago.

Dear Mike,

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. May this letter find you with great peace, joy, and encouragement.

You’ve become a father to me through the gospel of Jesus Christ, which means more to me than words can ever express. You are someone that I look up to, someone that I’m proud of, and someone I have a great deal of respect for.

You welcomed me as family from day one and showed me grace, mercy, and love at a time in my life when there was no one and I didn’t know what those things meant. When I see you, I see Jesus. A man of compassion and commitment to the Lord.

There are two things I know for sure about you: one, bed time is 8 o’clock, and, two, if you’re driving somewhere and we’re supposed to leave at 6:00 and I show up at 6:01, I’m driving myself.

One of the stories I tell often, especially to the guys in the jail, is about when you made the decision to get serious about the Lord in the church parking lot, with Rita in the passenger seat and Jeremy, Justin, and Jeff in the back. You put your arm on the back of the seat, turned your head, and told the boys that from now on the Stevens family would be at church Wednesday night, Sunday morning, and any other day those doors were unlocked. The boys grumbled and said, “Aww, come on, Dad,” but you held firm.

That story had a profound impact on me. Whenever I think about the multiplication effect, it reminds me of that decision you made in the parking lot. It had a huge impact on your family, which in turn enabled your family to have a major effect on the lives of people around them in our community and in the workplace. The Stevens family has definitely made an impact in our community for the Gospel.

I can’t help but wonder if you hadn’t made that decision in the parking lot, would New Creation Ministries be here today? Apart from raising your boys to know the Lord, your persistence and determination to ask for money in the middle of a recession, to not give up when people laughed and told you to your face that you were an idiot, but your willingness to follow the Lord’s leading—you did it anyway. You listened to God and trusted Him to work everything out. A perfect example of walking by faith and not by sight. (2 Cor. 5:7.)

New Creation has ministered to hundreds of men over the years, and continues to do so. I’m thankful to have been one of those men. If it wasn’t for you and Jeremy, my family wouldn’t have the life we have today.

Through the years I’ve watched how you love your wife as Christ loves the church, as well as how you love your sons, daughters-in-law, and all your grandchildren. You are a man of integrity, and when you say you’re going to commit to something, you give it 110% every time. You’ve showed me what it looks like to be a man of God, a leader, and a man of commitment.

You’ve showed me what it looks like to be a man honest to his employer, a hard worker, and a man committed to the church. You’ve showed me what it looks like to be a man of prayer and a
man whose faith in the Lord never wavers, no matter what your circumstances. And I think most of all, you’ve showed me how to treat everyone the same. You’ve never met a stranger, and the
way you’ve loved me throughout the years is how you’ve loved everybody, whether you know them or not.

Over the years there have been times I’ve thought, “If Mike can love that guy, I can love him too.”

You’ve blessed our family through the years, your home has always been open, and if I ever needed to borrow anything, you told me that if you had it, I was welcome to borrow it.

Mike, you’ve always encouraged me, but there are three things that mean more to me than you’ll ever know. One, you’ve always called me ‘son’; two, you’ve always told me you loved me; and, three, you’ve always told me you’re proud of me. Love, affirmation, and confirmation. I’ve never heard my biological dad tell me he loves me or that he’s proud of me. I’m extremely grateful for you.

When I think about you, Titus 2:6-8 comes to mind. “Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show
integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.”

Thank you for your faithfulness in being a follower of Jesus Christ and pointing other to the cross.

Love,

Tim

P.S. Look out your kitchen window—I think there’s a mole in your front yard.

We would like to thank the Scott County Community Foundation for their generous support of New Creation Ministries and everything that we do in our community. We were awarded $4,000 to go towards replacing the ministry’s sole vehicle, a 2008 Prius. This is a huge blessing and enables us to continue to offer our free services to those who need our assistance.

It's really special to be a part of all the outstanding work being done by our community partners and fellow grant recipients. We all represent one tiny piece of the puzzle to help make our community better today than it was yesterday.

As always, we greatly appreciate your prayers for our ministry and our community. Thank you!
