We are a life-giving, multicultural church in Schertz off of main street and our goal is to infuse life and God's love into people and families through engaging, powerful worship services that offer biblical truth in relevant and practical ways. Together, we're striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there's relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we'd like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time. So, if you are still just checking out the "church scene" and investigating the claims of Jesus Christ, thank you for allowing us to help you in your search. Or, if you are a committed Christ-follower who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at City On A Hill Church. We invite you to visit one of our Sunday (10:30am-12:00pm) morning or Wednesday night Services (7:00pm-8:30pm). Please contact us if you have any questions. God bless you!

DAY 1: THE HEART GOD WILL NOT REJECT

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” —Psalm 51:17

Contrition is a sincere and deep sorrow for having sinned against God. It is more than feeling embarrassed because we were caught. It is more than regretting the consequences of our choices. A contrite heart recognizes the wrong, grieves over it and genuinely desires to change.

David wrote Psalm 51 after being confronted about his sin. He could not undo what he had done, but he could come before God honestly. He brought God no excuses, blame or empty promises. He brought Him a broken heart.

God does not turn away the person who comes to Him in genuine repentance. He welcomes the honest heart that says, “Lord, I was wrong. Please change me.”

Am I truly grieving my sin, or am I only grieving its consequences?

Lord, give me a tender heart that responds when You correct me. Help me come before You honestly and without excuses. Create in me a heart that is willing to change. Amen.

We are not alone.

We are not alone.

Some seasons require more strength than we feel like we have. You may be carrying responsibilities, worries, or burdens that seem too heavy. Give them to God again. You were never meant to carry everything alone. He knows how to hold you up when you feel worn down.

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you.” — Psalm 55:22

Not every opportunity needs an immediate yes, and not every situation requires a quick response. Wisdom knows when to move and when to wait. Before you act, pray. Before you react, pause. Before you decide, ask God for understanding. A little patience can save us from a lot of regret.

“The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps.” — Proverbs 14:15

There will be moments when life feels uncertain and you need somewhere safe to place your heart. God is that place. He is not shaken by what shakes us. He is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms us. When everything feels unstable, run back to the One who remains steady.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

Words can build up or tear down. They can calm a situation or make it worse. They can bring healing or deepen a wound. Before speaking today, ask God for wisdom. Sometimes the right word at the right time can change the direction of someone’s entire day.

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” — Proverbs 15:1

08/28/2026

Some pain is visible, and some pain is carried quietly. But God sees both. He is not distant from the hurting, the grieving, or the disappointed. He draws near. If your heart feels heavy today, you do not have to hide it from Him. Bring Him the truth of what you are carrying.

“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart.” — Psalm 34:18

08/27/2026

There are moments when we do not know what decision to make, what door to walk through, or what step comes next. That is when we have to lean less on our own understanding and more on God’s wisdom. He sees what we cannot see and knows where every road leads. Trust Him enough to let Him direct you.

“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:6
