‘I have done my research’ is a terrible response to being challenged in a debate in person or on social media.

With so much information available, surely we can do better than just sharing a post you agree with or posting a video from your chosen news channel and calling that truth?

What about critical thinking? What about debate for the sake of making things better rather than for division?

Research is NOT an extensive google search, it is NOT following social media accounts that align with your views, it is NOT reading the headlines on your news app on your phone.

Research is:

*Asking a clear question (the more precise the question, the better the outcome)

*Collecting information from CREDIBLE and diverse sources, even sources you may disagree with.
(books, academic journals, case studies, interviews, etc.)

*Evaluating and synthesizing what you’ve found (e.g., “Why does this matter?” or “How does this connect?”)

*Drawing conclusions or producing new knowledge or a new paradigm.

As followers of Jesus consider ALL the word of God has to say about wisdom.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

I cannot vote today. I am not allowed to as I am not a citizen of the United States. One day, I look forward to being able to exercise that privilege. It is a privilege!
A privilege denied to many around the world.
The first 3 words of the constitution stand out to me, ‘We the people’. I encourage you, let those words speak to you today as you vote. Remember the privilege and this process when done well is in the hands of the people. Hear from heaven and vote!

Dr. Ed Stetzer wrote this article about the controversy over the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

What was interesting for me was the debate I had when I posted my distaste for the opening ceremony on my page, it was only fellow Christians that took me to task.
