We loved working with the Cape Fear Botanical Garden on this unique and beautiful artwork in their Camellia Garden. AFTER photos in the comments!
RESTORATION UNDER WAY - Cape Fear Botanical Garden is delighted to announce receipt of a generous grant from Arts Council of Fayetteville and North Carolina Arts Council for the restoration of art and sculptures within the Garden grounds.
The focal point of this restoration project lies within the Mary McLaurin Camellia Garden, where three significant sculptures are poised to undergo revitalization. Among them is the two-piece iron scroll sculpture, "Camellia Garden Fairies and Poem," crafted by David McCune and donated by an anonymous benefactor many years ago. Additionally, a bronze sculpture, gifted in memory of Elisabeth Nimocks, stands as a testament to the Garden's commitment to preserving the memory of its supporters.
Pictured here in its current condition, the restoration process for the two-piece iron scroll sculpture will include thorough cleaning, removal of loose paint, sandblasting, and powder coating as needed. A fresh application of paint and clear coat will be meticulously applied to ensure durability and longevity. Similarly, the bronze sculpture will undergo careful cleaning, buffing, and the application of bronze paint to highlight intricate details, followed by a matte clear coat for preservation.
All restoration work will be conducted by Charlotte-based AGG Restoration of the Carolinas. The project marks the initiation of an ongoing maintenance program for CFBG's outdoor art collection.
A visit to Cape Fear Botanical Garden promises a unique experience for guests, offering the chance to explore a diverse collection of outdoor art amid the ever-changing beauty of the natural surroundings. Whether a first-time visitor or a seasoned patron, the dynamic interplay between art and nature creates an immersive and stress-relieving environment for all to enjoy.
