Strong enough to break ropes… but still learning how to surrender.

Samson could overpower what was around him, but the harder battle was happening within.

Anger. Pride. Hurt. Retaliation.

Sometimes the greater strength is not fighting back—it’s surrendering what’s happening inside us to God.

Some days, we can see exactly where God is leading us.

Other days, we can only see the next step.

Faith doesn’t require us to have the entire road figured out. It asks us to keep our eyes on Jesus, trust His direction, and take the next step He puts in front of us.

The path may be uncertain, but our direction is clear.

Keep walking. God’s got the rest.

📖 “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:2

Samson was strong—but strength was never his greatest battle.

In Part Two of Strong, But Not Surrendered, we look at Judges 14:1–9 and the moment desire begins directing Samson’s decisions.

He saw.

He wanted.

He decided.

And that pattern should make us examine our own hearts.

Not everything that looks right to us is right for us. Desire becomes dangerous when what we want begins carrying more weight than what God has said.

God can still work through imperfect people—but being used by

God is not the same as being surrendered to God.

Today’s question is simple:

What is directing you?

Before Samson ever showed his strength, God had already spoken purpose over his life.

In Part 1 of Strong, But Not Surrendered, we’re in Judges 13 looking at the faith of Manoah and his wife, the calling placed on Samson before birth, and the responsibility that comes with what God entrusts to us.

Faith prepares carefully for what God promises; surrender carries faithfully what God entrusts.

Grounded in Christ is stepping into a new weekly rhythm.

Beginning Monday, each week will feature one five-part biblical series, with every weekday building on the message before it.

Saturdays and Sundays will give us time to catch up, reflect, and let the week’s teaching settle.

Our first series begins Monday:
Strong, But Not Surrendered
A five-part journey through the life of Samson.

We’re taking the next few days to study, pray, and prepare—because the message comes first.

Fear asks, “What if I sink?” Faith asks, “What did Jesus say?”

Today on Grounded in Christ, we’re in Matthew 14:22–33 for Day 35: One More Step.

Peter wasn’t fearless—but he trusted Jesus enough to step out of the boat. And when he began to sink, Jesus immediately reached for him.

Faith doesn’t wait for fear to disappear. Faith decides where to step.

We often expect God to speak through the dramatic. But sometimes His greatest direction comes after the noise has settled.

In today's Grounded in Christ devotional, we walk through 1 Kings 19 and Elijah's encounter with God at the mouth of the cave. The wind, the earthquake, and the fire all passed by—but God's voice was still enough to lead His servant forward.

God's voice does not lose its authority simply because He chooses to speak quietly.
