✨Senior Spotlight✨ Congratulations to Jasmine, who has spent the past 12 years skating with the Santa Rosa Figure Skating Club! While Jasmine describes skating as a hobby she pursued simply for the love of the sport, it has given her countless memories, meaningful friendships, and lessons that will stay with her for life. One of her favorite skating memories was reconnecting with her friend Zuri after the pandemic and realizing just how much she had missed her. From birthday donuts and hot chocolate with her coach to proudly landing her first axel, skating has been filled with moments of joy, laughter, and community. She also fondly remembers winning a shoot-the-duck and spiral competition and receiving two soft-boiled eggs as a prize from Zuri’s mom—an award she insists was far better than a traditional trophy!

Through skating, Jasmine learned discipline, perseverance, and the value of showing up even on the days when staying in bed sounded much more appealing. The sport helped shape her routine and taught her the rewards of dedicating time and effort to something she truly loves. Her advice to younger skaters is to have fun, embrace self-expression, and stay true to yourself, whether that’s through your music, your costume, or your skating style. After graduating from Windsor High School, Jasmine will attend University of California, San Diego to study Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. She plans to continue skating recreationally and hopes to spend plenty of time back at the rink she calls home. Off the ice, Jasmine enjoys sewing, painting, reading vampire novels, watching vampire movies, taking nature walks, and putting together vampire-inspired fashion. Her favorite skating element is the hydroblade—especially as performed by Yuzuru Hanyu—and her favorite program remains “On the Floor,” where she and Zuri proudly served as the rink’s unofficial club bouncers. We wish Jasmine all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter and know she will continue to bring creativity, determination, and a little bit of vampire flair wherever she goes! 🦇💙⛸️

✨Senior Spotlight✨Congratulations to Alissa Marie Advocate, who has spent the past 14 years skating with the Santa Rosa Figure Skating Club! A dedicated singles and ice dance skater, Alissa achieved an extraordinary milestone this year by earning three U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medals in Skating Skills, Dance, and Solo Free Dance. As a freshman, she set a goal of completing her Gold Skating Skills test before graduating high school—never imagining she would one day earn three Gold medals and be recognized by the U.S. Figure Skating Graduating Seniors Platinum Award. Through perseverance, determination, and countless hours of practice, she transformed that dream into reality.

Alissa credits skating with teaching her discipline, resilience, and the value of steady hard work. One of her proudest breakthroughs came when she discovered ice dance, a discipline that opened new opportunities and helped her blossom as both a skater and performer. Whether tying on her lucky black dance skirt before a test session or laughing about the time she wore an elf costume that made her look more like a jester, Alissa has embraced every moment of her skating journey with heart and humor. Her advice to younger skaters: “Keep trying! It takes a while to become the person you wish to be, but if you keep showing up with a smile on your face, it will all be worth it in the end.”

After graduating from Rancho Cotate High School, Alissa will attend Adrian College in Michigan, where she plans to study Exercise Science, skate on the varsity collegiate figure skating team, and continue teaching the next generation of skaters. Off the ice, she is an accomplished musician who plays piano, oboe, flute, and piccolo, performs with multiple ensembles, and plans to continue her musical journey in the Adrian College Orchestra. We are incredibly proud of all Alissa has accomplished and look forward to seeing her continue to shine both on and off the ice! 💙

Congratulations to Senior Spotlight skater Kayley! ✨ Kayley has been skating with the Santa Rosa Figure Skating Club for six years, competing in singles and developing a special love for the Lutz - both as her favorite element and one of her proudest accomplishments to master. Some of her favorite skating memories include finally landing her Lutz and carrying on her pre-competition tradition of drinking a juice shot for good luck. Through skating, Kayley has learned the importance of friendship, teamwork, sportsmanship, and creativity, and credits the sport with reigniting her passion and enthusiasm for life. Her advice to younger skaters is simple but powerful: “Please don’t give up! You can do it even if it feels impossible!”

After graduating from Maria Carrillo High School, Kayley will attend Mendocino College in Ukiah with plans to pursue a career as a Physical Therapy Assistant while also continuing her journey as a figure skating coach and competitive skater. When she’s not on the ice, Kayley enjoys dancing and exploring creative makeup artistry. We are excited to celebrate all she has accomplished and can’t wait to see where her passion and determination take her next! 💙 📸

✨Senior Spotlight✨ Kaydence Smith began skating at the age of seven, inspired by her mom, a former competitive roller skater who later discovered a love for ice skating. Her mom’s passion for the sport first brought Kaydence to the rink, and from that very first moment on the ice, she knew skating would become a big part of her life. One of Kaydence’s favorite memories is landing her very first axel right in front of her mom—a moment they both still cherish. A U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist in Skating Skills, Kaydence now has her sights set on her next goal: earning her Gold Medal in Singles. Her favorite elements include the axel, layback spin, and camel catch-foot spin. Off the ice, Kaydence loves reading and listening to audiobooks. After graduation, she plans to pursue nursing and eventually become a physician assistant. Her advice to younger skaters: love skating for yourself—not for anyone else. We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next, both on and off the ice! 📸Diana Dumbadse
