Love and sacrifice are commands, not rewards.
Christ did not love us because we deserved it.
He loved us because it was His nature and His obedience to the Father.
The cross was not a response to our goodness, but a commitment to God’s will.
When love becomes conditional, it stops reflecting Christ.
When sacrifice is withdrawn as punishment, it stops being biblical.
True love stays when it is costly.
True sacrifice continues when it is not returned.
That is the way of the cross.
And it is in that obedience—not in control, not in reward—that God is glorified.
