Hi All,

It's been a while, but I thought I'd post an update. Faith is doing amazing. She's as healthy as can be, with only minor side effects from the chemo (so far, anyway). She had her very last set of scans this year and now only has routine tests every couple of years. She is still being monitored annually by UCSF Nephrology. But here is a video of her doing her favorite thing, riding her horse.

Today is a big day for Faith. We are doing our 5-year scans. If (when) they come back clear, she will officially be IN REMISSION!! Faith has been doing amazingly well since our last post. She won a saddle on her horse doing gymkhana, is catching up to her classmates in school, and is an all-around happy kid. This afternoon, we have our first appointment with the survivorship clinic!

This is Faith 8 years ago today versus now. Just 2 years old, and so fragile. This was right after her first nephrectomy surgery, when she was in the PICU. She had already had 12 rounds of chemotherapy, and this surgery was so hard on her little body. You can see she has 7 tubes coming out of her body, and how the incision cuts across her whole abdomen. I am so blessed that she survived this, and the relapse that occurred just a couple of years later. She is thriving now. Doing well in school, making friends, competing on her horse. She recently hit her 4 year mark for being off treatment, and we are now moving to scans every 6 months instead of 3. She still has chronic kidney disease (it's a family trait) so we are still seeking treatment for that, but for now she is enjoying being a kid.

It's that time again. 3 month check up scheduled for Monday. So tomorrow we are going to have some fun at Six Flags! We are hopeful that they will be moving us to every 6 months after these scans.

Today was scan day. And WE ARE IN THE CLEAR!! We are now 3 1/2 years cancer free!! Even her kidney disease labs are looking a bit better!

This is the face of a girl who is 3 years cancer free!! This is the longest stretch of time in her entire life that she has not had cancer. Dr. Ben is still hesitant to move our scans to every 6 months as there is no protocol for Wilms patients with recurrence. So we will continue our scans every 3 months for at least another year. But we couldn't be happier today!!
