Dreaming of Home started out as an excited little idea between some seminarians. Then it grew into an experiment of network cultivation through building trust and relationship. And now... it's what I get to do everyday.

The Dreaming of Home 2 cohort met in NOLA, which continues to be a place that fascinates me with its complexity. I still can't believe these amazing gems were all in one place, feasting, exploring Filipino heritage, swamping, hot tubbing, and telling stories.

If you don't know beautiful all these faces of the diaspora, don't worry... youll hear about ALL of them soon ☺️

Special shout out to for her beautiful spiritual facilitation and for her excellent Kamayan /potluck theology leadership. for his artistry through song and .deb.lee for tai chi practice.

Mood.
The reality is, a lot of people say they do great things, are popular on social media, or look good on paper. They have impressive titles, many letters after their names, and say pithy things on the internet.
Looking under the hood, meeting them in person, and talking to the people they supposedly serve or call "friend" is a different story.
I've found some genuinely good people, good orgs, and they encourage me. They look me in the eye, don't make it all about themselves, and take responsibility for their actions. They actually follow words with actions. Their work changes lives. They are true diamonds in the rough.

Chase the diamonds.

Words cannot express the anger, rage, and immense sorrow over the violence done to Sonya Massey. In the coming days, we must be hyper vigilant and resilient against *anyone* going after black women's bodies.

May I make a small offering? I've recently gotten to know this organization called , an emancipatory organization centering black women, and primarily single black mothers. They help black churches center them. They help the world organize to center them. Their approach is womanist theology and abolition. Led by Dr. Nikia Robert.

They offer digital courses and digital community. Please join and support their work. Follow them. It is so needed in the world.

We cannot continue to stand by helplessly.

As we're watching the news unfold and reading all the think pieces, I hope we take time to reflect and think on our own about immigration, policy, Gaza, Ukraine, Congo, women's bodies, black and Asian women, LGBTQIA+ bodies, our children, and our neighbor's children near and far.
..and fellow Christians and faith leaders, *please* don't embarrass us by thinking you're "above" or disconnected from politics. Please.

Last week in DC, a small group gathered to talk about how pervasive and pernicious Christian Zionism continues to be, to the point of fueling/funding the g*cide, and what tangible things could be done about it.

We were convicted by .isaac words, heard the call to radicalize by , and helped us to surface the need for young ppl, BIPOC, and artists for immediate action.

I went to Palestine/Israel in 2017 with not quite understanding why. I was transformed on so many levels, and it wasn't until years later that I became clear on my specific purpose and role in all of this.

From these meetings, I saw that any action needs coalition building across multiple networks and people groups in order for things to change. Other groups represented: and much more. These groups been doing this steadily for years in Palestine, and there are so many more groups doing this work.

It was so great to connect with old friends and meet new ones. I wish I had taken so many more pics of these precious moments but honestly I was so transfixed and lost in them.

Stay tuned...

Following broadcast channel allows me to see the banality of violence.

I'm not trying to be "negative" by pointing out that violence is quotidian. It is all around us, no matter how much we try to cover it up with our nice homes, our smart books, our SEO's, or our great career trajectories.

Delinking from coloniality means choosing to see what is happening all around us and ordering our lives to stay connected to it and realize my role in it.

My friend .crook always reminds me to "just be faithful." Seeing the banality of violence and taking actions, to me, is about being faithful.

This by is still with me...

To all the mothers who wipe, clean, make, cook, clean, raise, educate, and pour into..

WHO ALSO

write, call, donate, march, read, post, and raise fists...

My hope is all the mothers can mother all of the children together. See each other and tell each other of our value and worth. Do things together. Feel a little less tired. Bump up each others' stamina.

And radically seek the mothers in Gaza with everything we've got.

Last weekend the Kinship Commons team was honored to lead prayers and reflection at the Faith and Justice gathering. We resignified what prayers can be and how they can be muttered and uttered. We led liturgy and prayers that were embodied, tearing cloth, drawing, breathing, singing, and creating constellations. Our cosmic chapel was pretty dope, too! More on all this later...

Even though I'm an extrovert, I was overwhelmed at the densely packed friend power in the room. It was so great to give and receive hugs from new and old friends, cohort members, and the F+J community. I finally got to meet Cole Arthur Riley and was inspired by her new book. Met Rowena Chiu in person, a survivor of Harvey Weinstein turned feminist justice advocate. Got to talk onesie love with Rianna Shaw Robinson, the epitome of an Amen corner and embodied prayer. Got to catch up and reminisce with Kenji Kuramitsu, wise but truly fun. Spent a hot minute with the Unfriendly Asian Hotties. Of course, great to spend quality time with the Kinship Commons fam (JULIE, JENNIFER, AISEA, ROBERTO). Thanks to Peter Choi for all that he does. So grateful for friendships that move at the speed of trust.

For those of us who avoid feeling pain.
For those of us who are numbed out by the huge number of deaths.

Let's talk to our inner child and give them a nudge to keep feeling and not stop.
Let conversations like these become real to us.
And lets teach our kids another way.

Trying to find the balance between being thorough and being overwhelming. If overwhelmed, take a beat and come back. If not thorough enough, fill in the blanks. Please.

As far as the last slide... I'm not one to force "REPENT NOW" down anyone's throats. But for me, I've been in a posture of repentance as a Christian in the US, and I'm holding onto my last threads of praying for a miracle and an end to this violence.
