40 Days of Hope CCLG

40 Days of Hope CCLG 40 Days of Hope is a unified effort of Christians and Churches throughout San Diego County to Give Hope and Be Hope to our communities.

It’s the Body of Christ coming together in different ways throughout the region all for the sole purpose of spreading the Hope of God to others. It begins on Ash Wednesday and continues on for the 40 Days of Lent which culminates on Palm Sunday. For these 40 Days we are focusing on giving hope and being hope to those around us and for those God will put along our paths as we journey with Him.

Day 33 - The Power of Generosity

"They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life." 1 Tim 6:18-19

Are you the master of your wallet, or does GOD dictate your spending? Do you display the love of CHRIST in your giving? I have heard grievous stories from waiters and waitresses that the worst tipping is Sunday afternoon from the Christians. How can this be? How can this be when our SAVIOR claims to be so generous that HE gave us ALL, and we are HIS followers who are called to be the Body of CHRIST and to display HIS love to the fallen world?

Have we forgotten the power of generosity and the witness of CHRIST that comes from giving freely what has been given to us? The very nature of our foundation is that CHRIST came to give us all that HE is! Oh, the beauty and wonder of our redemption! Words cannot describe the level of love and generosity GOD has given to us. In John 15:13 JESUS says, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends." GOD is declaring in this passage that HE has loved us at the highest and greatest level we can be loved. HE held nothing back!

Day 29 - Meditations – God’s Love for Me

The Bible tells us that God is Love. Take time to meditate on each of the following, in a spirit of thanksgiving and praise.

“Lord, I thank You and praise You, for Your love is…” Absolutely unconditional; Unearned and unmerited; Freely given, by your sovereign choice; Irresistible and overwhelming; Vast and abundant; Extravagantly lavished upon me; Constant, unending, and eternal; Patient and kind; Paternal – ‘Abba Father’; Intimate love; Love that is abounding in mercy; Love that was both promised and demonstrated; Love that is Your very Nature; Perfect love.

Lord, thank you that you loved me first, and have proven it in so many ways. I pray for more revelation of your love.

"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." (Eph 3:14-19)

Day 23 - God’s Chosen People: Identity

I Peter 2: 9-10 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

In these two verse, God gives us a snapshot, a succinct understanding of what it means to be His people. What is our identity as those who belong to God?

Notice first of all the four images he describes.
• A chosen people. So who is it that did the choosing?
• A royal priesthood. Who made you royalty?
• A holy nation. Who is it that made you holy?
• God’s special possession. Who made you a special possession?
GOD did it all!

Do you notice that those are all communal terms? What this is saying is that for you to experience the Gospel, you are brought into a new people. Until you are brought “in” through the person and work of Jesus Christ, your previous state was that of an individual, you were not “a people”, you are a person, separated from God. But Praise God, through the atoning blood of Jesus “you” become a “chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession”!

Day 17 - Prayer is the Key to All We have from God

Matthew 6:8 – Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

Spirit-led prayer is not informational. Our Father in heaven already knows our needs. Prayer is not about words as much as it is about a relationship with our creator, redeemer, and the lover of our souls. The religious leaders of Jesus’ day uttered many words in prayer. They truly were not praying to God. They prayed to impress those watching them go through their religious act.

Some take prayer to the extreme of only meditating. It is good to meditate! The Holy Spirit will lead us at times to what the Psalmist taught: “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Waiting and listening is a very essential part of prayer. Some have gotten so mystical they separate themselves from family and culture. They isolate themselves to meditate, trying to touch God. The Holy Spirit will lead, from time to time, to get alone with our heavenly Father. Jesus regularly spent private time with His Father. He brought back to His disciples what He had received.

As we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us the Word of God, He will instruct us how to be an instrument in God’s hands by coming to know God’s will. Christian prayer is meant to be relational. It is spending time in our Father’s presence. Prayer is using the views of Scripture in our communication with the Lord. Prayer is sharing your heart’s burden. Prayer is making our requests known to God. Spirit-filled and Spirit-led prayer comes out of righteousness and relationship with the heavenly Father. “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (James 5:16).

Day 7 - The Convicting Spirit

Come, work repentance in my soul; Represent sin to me in its odious colors that I may hate it; Melt my heart by the majesty and mercy of God; Show me my ruined self and the help there is in him;
Teach me to behold my Creator, his ability to save, his arms outstretched, his heart big for me.

Day 3: 100% to JESUS

JESUS is asking for 100% obedience and holiness without resistance, respect of persons (including yourself), or fear of man. This requires absolute surrender to HIM, HIS entire will and purpose for our life, and HIM being the sole PERSON that guides and directs us. For this to happen in our life it requires a miraculous work of GOD transforming our entire nature. Knowledge of HIS expectation of us should make us hungry and desperate for it, but knowledge alone cannot make us do it. We need the miracle working power (grace) of GOD to make us willing, available, and 100% cooperative with HIM, allowing HIM to have all of us.

There shouldn't be one thing held back from HIM; HE paid for it all, and HE gets it all. We must grow past the internal negotiations with GOD of giving HIM the bare minimum and keeping the rest for ourselves, when in reality there is no bare minimum, but ALL to JESUS.

LORD help us now! Come into us now and do the work, making us willing to be led by YOUR complete beautiful reign over our lives. Amen.

Day 1 of 40 Days of HOPE
Beginning the Journey

This is the beginning of a journey, a journey into the heart of GOD and all that HE wants for our life, marriage, family, congregation, and region. It’s a time of drawing near to GOD, quieting our souls, quickening our spiritual senses, and seeking discernment and wisdom in moving forward with the LORD. This is an occasion to remove all hindrances and to cry out to GOD for us to be awakened and revived.

Let the joy begin! Let the journey begin! Let us be faithful to do all that HE tells us to do during this time of prayer, fasting, worship and outreach. May the love of CHRIST compel us to make a difference in Jesus’ Name because He has made a difference in us!
