Created in His Image

"God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:27). The Catholic understanding of the human person begins here, with dignity that is given, not earned. When a young woman begins to understand the changes happening in her body, she is encountering something far deeper than biology. She is meeting a gift she did not give herself. The Period Genius Workshop, hosted at St. Matthew Church on Saturday, July 18, helps mothers and daughters honor that gift together. Age-appropriate, faith-rooted, and built for 5th and 6th grade girls.

Registration is now open: https://archsa.regfox.com/pg-workshop

Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, “the Little Flower,” profoundly understood the gentle and humble heart of Jesus. In contemplating how to be transformed by Christ's love, she reflected that “What pleases [Jesus] is that he sees me loving my littleness and my poverty, the blind hope that I have in his mercy… the weaker one is, without desires or virtues, the more suited one is for the workings of this consuming and transforming Love” (Letter 197 to Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart, September 17, 1896). Let us join with Saint Thérèse in praying for our hearts to be humble like Jesus.

Yesterday during our 12:30 p.m. Mass, Father Ruben offered a special blessing for our graduates and students reaching important milestones—from those moving on to 1st grade and middle school to our high school and college graduates.

We were blessed to celebrate this special moment with them and their families. Please keep all of these students in your prayers as they begin the next chapter of their journey. Congratulations, and may God continue to guide and bless them!
