A Warning to the Church: The Hour is Late: Hold On to Your Faith (So You Don't Fall Away)

Two men were talking one day about the state of the world. One pressing question emerged: Why do so many people live as if they're unaware of the influences around them that will cause them to live without faith in God, in the most crucial time of man's history, the end times?

Could it be what the Holy Spirit foretold about such a time?

The Holy Spirit, in 1 Peter 4:1, warns of a time when some will depart from the faith.

Could it be a matter of some in the Church are losing their faith?

We are living in that time. A time of great confusion with growing doubt in the things of God that, if left unchecked, can lead to a devastating spiritual fall.

Join us this Sunday as we delve into God's Word. I believe I have a word for you that will give you insight and encouragement; that will strengthen your hold on your faith so you can weather the storms of these last days.

Lesson For Life: Whatever controls you determines how you live.

That is a thought that came to my mind as I meditated on the words of James 1:19-29.

This word opened my heart to this understanding:

- Whatever you listen to controls what you do in life

- Whatever you say controls how valuable you are in life

- Whatever angers you will control why you fail in life

Here's what James says about that in his epistle: He said you must be...

1. QUICK to Listen James 1:22-25
2. SLOW to Speak - James 1:26-27
3. SLOW to Anger - James 1:20-21

This is how he said it:

Remember this, my dear friends! Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry.

THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE TO BE...

SLOW TO ANGER
Human anger does not achieve God's righteous purpose. So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept the word that he plants in your hearts, which is able to save you.

QUICK TO LISTEN
Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice. If you listen to the word, but do not put it into practice you are like people who look in a mirror and see themselves as they are. They take a good look at themselves and then go away and at once forget what they look like. But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice—you will be blessed by God in what you do.

SLOW TO SPEAK
Do any of you think you are religious? If you do not control your tongue, your religion is worthless and you deceive yourself. What God the Father considers to be pure and genuine religion is this: to take care of orphans and widows in their suffering and to keep oneself from being corrupted by the world.
