From today’s Gospel Acclamation...

“If today you hear his [God's] voice, harden not your hearts.” Psalm 95:8

This sentence can be an excellent daily practice for me to develop during Lent and the rest of the year.

It challenges me to be more aware of where I hear God’s voice:
in quiet stillness, in the creative mockingbird call during my morning walk, in the crickets at night, in my dreams, in the words of the people I live with, in the music that comes up on Pandora.

It challenges me to open my heart to these sounds, not dismissing them as irrelevant chatter but to hold them, ponder them, and make room for them.
