Today, we commemorate the anniversary of the death of Venerable Padre Margil, the Franciscan friar who traveled on foot across the Americas, tirelessly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This weekend, our Camino community is offering our pilgrimage in his honor, praying through his intercession that he may one day be canonized as a saint in the Catholic Church.

Join us in prayer and pilgrimage as we walk in the footsteps of this great missionary. Venerable Padre Margil, pray for us.

Very grateful that we were able to host the American Pilgrims on the Camino this past Saturday at the Pope Francis Center as they shared their stories from their Camino de Santiago journey.

Our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIII reminds us that care for creation is not optional, it is a requirement of our faith and a call to ongoing conversion of heart.

As stewards of God’s creation, we are entrusted with the responsibility to care for our common home and protect the gift of life it sustains.

Join us for our annual Care for Creation Mass on Sunday, September 13, at 8:00 AM at Mission San Francisco de la Espada. Together, we will gather in prayer, celebrate God’s creation, and renew our commitment to caring for our common home. 🌿🙏

Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of St. James the Greater, Apostle of Jesus, patron saint of pilgrims, and patron of Spain.

As one of the first Apostles called by Jesus, St. James shared a close relationship with Jesus, one rooted in deep faith and unwavering devotion. His fidelity to Christ led him to become the first of the Apostles to be martyred for the Gospel. He was among the first to be called and the first of the Twelve to give his life for Christ.

Each year, many of the faithful walk the Camino de Santiago in honor of this great saint, offering the hardships of their pilgrimage to God and seeking to grow in faith through his example.

St. James the Greater, pray for us!
