Lots of good (and funny!) guesses but no one quite got it right!

The answer is 73,000 hours spent milking cows!

We moved to this farm 40 years ago and have milked twice a day, every day since.

But here’s the part that is wild..73,000 hours is more than 8 1/3 YEARS spent milking cows.

And if you know our farm, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that Poor Jeff has been there for just about all of them. 😂

40 years, 73,000 hours and a whole lot of milkings later, we are still at it.

This heat has been brutal this week. It’s the hottest stretch we’ve had all summer, and it affects just about every part of the farm, cows and people included.

We do everything we can to keep the cows cool and comfortable, including plenty of water, fans, shade, and sprinklers like these. But when it stays this hot day after day, there’s only so much you can do.

The work still has to get done, the cows still have to be cared for, and everyone is feeling it.

We are more than ready for a break in this heat and hoping some relief gets here soon!

Applications are now open for the inaugural Ronnie Mosser Legacy Award, to be presented this November at the All-American Jersey Show.

This award was created to recognize what mattered deeply to Ronnie: a genuine love for the Jersey cow and a commitment to the breed's future.

We aren’t looking for the longest list of accomplishments or the most banners. We want to hear from young people who love Jerseys, who value the everyday work that comes with caring for them, and who want to help carry this breed forward.

There are no perfect answers, and you do not have to be the best writer. We want to hear your story, in your own words.

Applications must be received by 11:59pm ET on October 15, 2026, at [email protected]. Late applications will not be considered.

The application is linked below to download and complete. We hope you’ll help us share it with the Jersey juniors in your life.

Now that we’re home from the Kentucky State Fair and almost rested, we want to say THANK YOU to everyone who followed along with us throughout the week!

We loved getting to share a little bit of the show, the cows, the work behind the scenes, and what a week at the State Fair really looks like. And a big thank you to all of our The Dairy Alliance followers who came along for the ride too!

It’s been a big week for DreamMaker daughters!

Hot off the press from the Wisconsin Summer Championship Show, Koss Reuter Dream of Heidi ET was 1st Place Winter Calf and Reserve Junior Champion!

Previously owned with our friends, the Dave Schmocker family, we’re especially excited to see Heidi doing so well.

Most of all, a huge thank you to our crew. This was easily one of the smoothest State Fair weeks we have ever had, and that is entirely because of the people behind the scenes. We are incredibly thankful for each of them and everything they do.
