Dear Pastors and Regional Leaders:
With only a week left in my tenure as the IOU Regional Bishop for Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and the Navajo Nation, I just wanted to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to every pastor, regional leader, and church that has supported Judy and me through the last 22 years. Your friendship, love, and prayers have truly been remarkable. Judy and I have worked diligently to help make this a smooth transition to the new administration. Please continue your pursuit of excellence in your ministry. My devotional today centered on Psalm 100:5, "For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations." Remember at all times that you and I have a responsibility to share the truth with each succeeding generation; indeed, make this your lifetime goal.
I have met several times with our incoming Regional Bishop, Peter Ortiz. Do everything in your power to help Egla and him feel at home in this region. I hope that every pastor and spouse will attend the upcoming Regional Pastors Retreat on October 2-4 to meet the new regional bishop and spouse on Friday evening. This is a splendid opportunity to meet him outside your local church service to talk with him. Please share your hospitality and love with them.
Finally, my heart is full of emotions, but is made still with the peace of having served Jesus Christ to my fullest throughout these 22 years. A solo una semana de finalizar mi mandato como Obispo Regional de la IOU para Idaho, Oregón, Utah y la Nación Navajo, deseo aprovechar esta oportunidad para expresar mi agradecimiento a cada pastor, líder regional e iglesia que nos ha apoyado a Judy y a mí durante los últimos 22 años. Su amistad, amor y oraciones han sido verdaderamente extraordinarios. Judy y yo hemos trabajado diligentemente para facilitar una transición fluida hacia la nueva administración. Por favor, continúen buscando la excelencia en su ministerio. Mi devocional de hoy se centró en el Salmo 100:5: "Porque el Señor es bueno; su misericordia es eterna y su verdad permanece por todas las generaciones". Recuerden siempre que ustedes y yo tenemos la responsabilidad de compartir la verdad con cada generación venidera; de hecho, hagan de esto su meta de vida.
Me he reunido en varias ocasiones con nuestro nuevo Obispo Regional, Peter Ortiz. Hagan todo lo que esté a su alcance para ayudar a Egla y a él a sentirse como en casa en esta región. Espero que todos los pastores y sus cónyuges asistan al próximo Retiro Regional de Pastores, del 2 al 4 de octubre, para conocer al nuevo obispo regional y a su esposa el viernes por la noche. Es una oportunidad magnífica para conocerlo y conversar con él fuera del entorno de los servicios de su iglesia local. Por favor, bríndenles su hospitalidad y amor.
Finalmente, mi corazón está lleno de emociones, pero también en calma gracias a la paz de haber servido a Jesucristo con todas mis fuerzas a lo largo de estos 22 años.
