Sister Barbara Battista attended the Miami Nation of Indiana's All Nations Gathering earlier this month to lend our support in the battle for the Miami Nation to regain federal recognition as a tribe. Much of the state of Indiana is comprised of land the Miami once inhabited. The group lost their tribe status in 1897, and that loss has been costly as the nation has been unable to access specific grants and privileges that other recognized tribes have across the country.
