Today is bittersweet as one general council ends and another begins. We are blessed to be a community full of strong leaders who practice love, mercy and justice. Our community is anchored by the legacy of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and the timeless wisdom of God's Providence. We thank Sisters Dawn Tomaszewski, Laura Parker, Carole Kimes, Anne Therese Falkenstein, and Jeanne Hagelskamp for their faithful service over the last five years. To be led by their example and guidance is such a gift, and they join the ranks of the exemplary women who led before them.

We celebrated a special Installation Eucharistic Liturgy this afternoon, which marked the transition of the congregation from one council to the next. Sister Jeanne Hagelskamp was blessed as our new General Superior, as well as our councilors for the next five years: Vicar Sister Lisa Stallings, Sister Anne Therese Falkenstein, Sister Norene Wu and Sister Tracey Horan. A special blessing was also placed on Sisters Dawn, Laura and Carole as they embark on the next chapters of their lives. We hope you will help us hold them all in prayer. đź’—

We have launched into a busy weekend full of change, growth and focus on the future. It is new and wonderful and we are thrilled to announce that we have welcomed a new postulant into our community!

We are so pleased to introduce you to Jessica Sun, who is now embarking on her journey to become a Sister of Providence. Jessica has been in a period of thoughtful and patient discernment and has shown us a meaningful example of what it means to seek and listen for the voice of God in our lives. Jessica is passionate about our justice work and we are excited to see how she will grow, evolve and contribute to our community in the coming years. At a time when many religious communities around the world are facing harsh realities, we are deeply blessed and full of gratitude that we continue to grow.

Our Justice Coordinating Commission had the unique opportunity to interview Jessica recently, and Episode 29 of the JUSTus Podcast features her conversation with host and Providence Associate, Jane Fischer. You can get to know Jessica by clicking this link: spsmw.org/2026/08/10/women-religious-and-social-justice/

Stay tuned this weekend for more exciting developments!

Today's Gospel Reflection, authored by Sister Corbin Hannah, prompts us to examine some tough questions. "If someone comes to me, can I listen without becoming defensive? Do I care more about my desire to be right than the well-being of my community? Am I willing to be accountable for the impact of my behaviors on others?"

In today's society, it sometimes feels like some people don't really care about or consider the impact their actions have on others. But as followers of Christ, we are challenged every day to reflect internally on the business of how we live our lives and the influence we have on the world around us.

Magnifica Humanitas reveals that this same divine current moves through the human family…healing dignity, mending relationships, and awakening our shared responsibility for one another."
