Who Is the Ole’ Country Church?
I’ve been asked many times, “What exactly is the Ole’ Country Church? Who are you? Where are you located? What denomination are you?”
I usually laugh and tell people we belong to the First Unitednonmethacothabaptilistic Church of God. 😂
The truth is, after 56 years of life and visiting thousands of churches along the way, I have learned something very important — denominations and religion may carry names and labels, but mankind created those divisions. What God is looking for has always been much deeper.
He is looking for something real.
People have a way of recognizing what is fake and what is authentic. When someone buys a diamond, they don’t just want something that shines — they want to know if it’s genuine, something with value. A true diamond has to go through testing to prove its authenticity.
In many ways, the Ole’ Country Church has been through those same tests.
My name is Jay Wallace, and since being born again in 1995, my life has been one test after another. Through every valley, every battle, every failure, and every victory, God has been shaping something far bigger than myself.
I often tell people I hide behind the ministry name because the ministry itself is perfect — even though it is being led by an imperfect man.
The Ole’ Country Church was birthed with one purpose:
To see God Glorified,
Jesus Magnified,
The Holy Spirit Electrified,
His Word Amplified,
and His Kingdom Multiplied.
If those five things remain the foundation, I believe this ministry will always stay on the right path.
The Ole’ Country Church isn’t simply about “old-time religion,” old buildings, or nostalgia. It’s about getting back to the heart and soul of the Gospel — back to the foundation Jesus gave us.
Every person is different. We come from different places, see life through different experiences, and walk different roads. But there should be one thing we all share:
A foundation built upon the Rock.
The word “human” carries a powerful reminder. Humus (Dirt), Mankind (Spirit) - Hu-man. It connects the idea of mankind with the earth we were created from. The word “humble” also carries the thought of being brought low — remembering where we came from.
When God tells us to humble ourselves and He will lift us up, He is reminding us to stop trying to become everything the world says we should be and return to who He created us to be.
When we truly discover who we are in Christ, God can begin using us for a greater purpose.
To become purpose-driven, we must become spiritually alive.
The journey begins when we pick up our cross and start dying to the one thing constantly pulling us away from God — our flesh.
The spirit must overcome the desires of the flesh, and that can only happen by walking daily with the true Overcomer — the Holy Spirit.
That is what the Ole’ Country Church is about.
It’s about breaking down the Gospel in a way people can understand so they don’t have to spend years wandering around the same mountain, lost in the wilderness.
It’s better to have a guide than to wander aimlessly.
And that is what I believe God has called me to be — a guide.
I’ve walked through valleys of despair, addiction, heartbreak, loss, sin, and brokenness. But every single time, God’s grace reached down and pulled me out.
Along the journey, I discovered gifts I never knew were buried inside of me — songwriting, writing books, preaching, teaching, and sharing the message God placed in my heart.
God has used my story, not because I am special, but because He is.
I’ve stood in the lowest valleys, and I’ve seen the view from the mountaintops.
I once was blind, but now I see.
The mission of the Ole’ Country Church is simple:
To help people see the Gospel through a fresh perspective, discover who they are in Christ, and begin their own journey up God’s Holy Mountain.
Hopefully, by sharing the lessons God taught me, others won’t have to fight through as many thorns and briars along the way.
Because that is exactly what Jesus did for all of us.
He made a way.
