What started as a shared love for nature has grown into something that will be enjoyed for years to come at our Wellspring Livonia Campus.
Recently, local students Naz Cimsit, president of the Schoolcraft Environment Club, and Hunter Anderson, a student at Madonna University, teamed up with Spanish interpreter and community volunteer Eric Nissani to plant fruit trees, spruce trees and other greenery on our campus.
Together, they planted three peach trees and two dwarf Stella cherry trees near the main entrance of the property, along with two spruce trees in the campus courtyards. The project helps create beautiful outdoor spaces for youth, staff and visitors to enjoy. Eric later returned with cucumber and potato plants in pots, which were placed near the fruit trees.
For Eric, the project was about more than planting trees.
"I honestly hope the kids are able to enjoy the fruits of those trees," he shared. "It could be a year or two before they really start producing, but God willing, they will."
Naz and the Schoolcraft Environment Club regularly take part in environmental projects across Michigan, including cleanups, conservation efforts and community improvement projects. This summer, they hope to continue making a difference through wildflower planting and other hands-on initiatives.
We're grateful for the generosity, hard work and vision these community volunteers have shared with Wellspring. Their efforts are already making our campus a little greener and will leave a lasting impact for years to come.
Thank you, Eric, Naz and Hunter, for helping our campus grow!
