Today marks the first day of Lent, a 40-day season where we follow Jesus into the wilderness and prepare our hearts for Easter. Jesus fasted, faced temptation, and chose obedience to God through truth and trust. This time invites us to step away from distractions, not just to give something up, but to grow closer to Jesus. It is about worship, freedom, and knowing Christ personally, not just practicing “good” habits.

Some ways to participate this Lent:

•Serve through your local church
Give your time, energy, and resources to support what God is doing in your local church and community. This season is a great way to lean into the mission together.

•Let sacrifice draw you closer to Jesus
Whether it’s fasting, limiting social media, or changing daily habits, use the sacrifice as a way to seek God more, pray more, and depend on Him.

•Choose worship over routine
Make space each day to read Scripture, pray, and walk humbly with God. It isn’t about doing things perfectly, it’s about loving Jesus deeply.

Let this season be about freedom, renewal, and choosing what truly matters 💜

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His love endures forever

God doesn’t force us to forgive to earn His love. He invites us to forgive so we can finally heal.

We are condemned to spiritual emptiness when we perceive only the natural.

An empty life depends on us, but a full life depends on Christ.

So, if your soul’s fuel isn’t coming from Jesus... where is it coming from?

Because according to Jesus, any attempt to fill ourselves without Him simply doesn’t work.

Yesterday during both services we learned that following Jesus isn’t about escaping the world or indulging in it. It’s about engaging it with the words and heart of Jesus.

We want to be people who are charitable, courageous, and always anchored in Christ.

Jesus didn’t start His ministry with a new ideology, but with an invitation to “Follow Me.”

To follow Him means turning from the world’s patterns and learning to desire like Jesus not domination, but transformation.

Sometimes that transformation happens in silence.
When we pause, resist doomscrolling, sit with our thoughts, we make space for God to speak. In that space is where were-capture our imagination, to renew our desires, to remind us what truly matters.

The call is simple, YET SO TOUGH:

Let your heart be re-captured by the story of Jesus and let that story shape how you live, speak, and love in a polarized world.

God unites. The enemy divides. Following Jesus means being known for peace, not for picking sides.

Matthew 4:1–11)
“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness (the eremos) to be tempted by the devil. After fasting 40 days and 40 nights, He was hungry…”

We know the story:
Satan tempts Jesus to turn stones into bread.
He tempts Him to test God’s protection.
He tempts Him with power and glory in exchange for worship.
And each time, Jesus responds with Scripture and resists.

This entire story is at God’s initiative.
The Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness, to the eremos, the solitary place.

“Solitude is not a private therapeutic place. It’s not a day spa for the soul where introverts go to chill.
It’s the place of encounter.” Henri Nouwen

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.””
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬-‭2‬
