Single motherhood is a fast epidemic sweeping our country today. Many single mothers struggle with little or no support from family. Daughters of the King HOUSE will offer that support in the form of a Christ-Centered family style living complete with a financial program and guidance for their future. This DOTK HOUSE will alter the opportunities for countless women and therefore impact lives for g

enerations to come. This home is in Martinez, California

Feeling lonely?

While single moms are the busiest women in the world, feeling estranged from others is often a common reality. And what’s the root? Loneliness. It’s that feeling of separation or the lack of companionship. It’s a painful reality in realizing that after eight o’clock at night there’s no other adult under the roof to share in the day’s journey or worries about the children.

Many believe that if they only had a spouse, their loneliness would go away. Although it might take the edge off the discomfort, the deepest longing of the heart is communion with God. What would happen if we saw loneliness as a good thing? What if instead of running from loneliness in pursuit of another, we ran to Jesus asking Him to fill the void? What if we remembered that just as physical solitude enables us to hear the Father’s voice, inner solitude enables us to know the Father’s character: comforter, companion, and sustainer.

Single moms are not the first to appear on God’s radar screen of the remote. God strengthens the alienated at heart: Paul, Silas, and even David. Notice David’s quest, “Though my mother and father may forsake me, the Lord will take me in.” (Psalm 27:10)

Beloved single mom, you feel empty and isolated, but I have not left you as an orphan. In your loneliness I am training you to know the reality of My nearness. You’ll never be closer to Me than in your darkness. I am here. You are not alone.

Mom,

Not knowing what lies ahead can be frightful. It leaves one feeling exposed and helpless. Satan’s most destructive tool is a fretful, disturbed spirit: What dangers await me? How can I do this alone? Will my children be damaged? Fear goes for our weakest part. It crowds us into the corner and suffocates all rationality. It nurses the worst case scenario. It muddies the waters in our relationship with God causing us to forget God’s faithfulness in the past.

When we feed our anxieties, we fall into a frenzy. When we feed our faith, we fall into the Father’s goose-down comfort. God settles sinister emotions. If our “what if’s” become our “what is,”

He can handle it.

Beloved single mom, I see your anxious heart. But fearing what might happen cripples your capacity in following My leading. No evil will take you under. I am your protector. Your future may be out of your hands, but it is not out of mine. You are not alone.

YOU HAVE THE VICTORY!!

Being a mom is the hardest job in the entire world, but being a “single” mom brings on a whole new meaning to motherhood. As a single mother, one of the most difficult challenges is managing painful emotions so they don’t manage you. On the surface, our emotions cannot be trusted and the enemy uses them against us. We need to release what holds us back and refocus on God’s promise of victory.

Stop leaving your kids with them.

Stop leaving your children with your boyfriends you barely know.

Stop letting your family members you don't entirely trust watch them because it's free.

If you have a gut feeling about someone that doesn't sit right with you when it comes to your child, cut all ties with this person.

If your little one comes to you and says I don't want to stay with a particular person .... do me a favor and listen to them.

Being a mom is the hardest job in the entire world, but being a “single” mom brings on a whole new meaning to motherhood. As a single mother, one of the most difficult challenges is managing painful emotions so they don’t manage you. On the surface, our emotions cannot be trusted and the enemy uses them against us. We need to release what holds us back and refocus on God’s promise of victory.

The Father understands our struggles in raising children alone and the questions we ponder:

Will my responsibilities ever lighten up? How can I be a great model to my children? Will I ever get past “this”?

The good news remains. We don’t have to live under the tyranny of destructive emotions or our woundedness. We can find emotional healing through the Holy Spirit. God is at work even now in bringing a divine strength not of our own making.

Let’s prepare for the journey.
