Alhamdulillah — the most beautiful moment after Eid salah.

After gathering in worship for Eid, our community witnessed something far greater than any celebration:

Eduard took his shahada at the hands of Imam Ahmad and entered into Islam.

May Allah keep him firm, illuminate his heart, forgive his past, bless his future, and surround him with a community that supports him with love, sincerity, and brotherhood.

Eid reminds us of sacrifice, submission, and returning to Allah — and today, we witnessed a soul return to its Lord in the most beautiful way.

Welcome to Islam, Eduard.
Allahu Akbar.

We are not the point.

Allah is.

We are not the source of support.
We are not the source of mercy.
We are not the source of provision.
We are not the source of strength.

We are means.

And being a means is an honor.

Allah could send relief through any door, open hearts through any moment, and carry people through any path. Yet sometimes, He allows the good to pass through us.

That does not make us the source.
It makes us grateful to have been chosen.

This is why the idea that “you cannot give from what you do not have” needs to be put in its proper place.

Because what do we really have?

Whatever is in our hands was placed there by Allah.
Whatever strength we carry was given by Allah.
Whatever mercy reaches someone through us was sent by Allah.

So no, you do not have to save yourself before you serve others.

You have to remember that you were never the savior.

Allah is not absent from the one you are serving.
Allah is not absent from the weight you are carrying.
Allah is not absent from the weakness you feel.

Serve. Show up. Sacrifice. Be present.

But do it as a servant.

You are not the point.
You are the vehicle.

He is the point.
He is the source.
He is the One carrying the one who serves and the one being served.

There are moments when work does not feel separate from worship.

After spending meaningful time with Shaykh Abdullah Misra reflecting on the successes and challenges of Muslims in the West, I had the blessing of settling into some remote work at the masjid.

Laptop open. Heart full. Coffee excellent.

Barakah Cafe inside ISOC Masjid is a beautiful reminder that our masajid can be spaces of prayer, reflection, connection, and everyday productivity.

May Allah bless the Shaykh for all he does, place barakah in this community, and allow the hearts of the people to remain connected to Allah and His Beloved ﷺ.

May Allah place barakah in our time, our conversations, and the work we carry forward.
