We often want the results of following Jesus without accepting the cost.

In Mark 8, Jesus makes that cost clear. Anyone who wants to be His disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. Jesus is not asking to be added to our lives. He is asking to lead them.

This Sunday at Soco Church, we are asking a challenging question: What is following Jesus costing you?

It is possible to know the right answers about Jesus while still resisting His authority. Agreement is not allegiance. The moment we need Jesus to follow our plan, we are no longer following Him.

Following Jesus will eventually confront something we do not want challenged. It may cost our control, comfort, money, pride, success, or right to get even. But there is a cost on both sides, and we often calculate only one.

Forgiveness may cost our right to get even, but what is bitterness costing us? Generosity may cost money, but what is greed costing us? Surrender may cost control, but what is our need for control costing us?

Jesus is not trying to take your life. He is inviting you into the life you could never create without Him.

Join us as we consider what we are holding onto, what it is costing us, and what it would look like to place it into the hands of Jesus today.

You were never meant to follow Jesus alone.

In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul describes the Church as one body made up of many different parts. Every person has a place, every gift has a purpose, and every part is needed for the body to become healthy, growing, and full of love.

This Sunday at Soco Church, we are talking about why we need each other. God did not design the Church to be a room full of individuals. He created a family where we love one another, encourage one another, and serve one another.

When one person is missing, the whole body feels it. Your presence matters. Your encouragement matters. Your gifts matter. You have something God wants to use to help another person grow.

Together, we will discover what it looks like to build genuine Christian community, remain connected through difficult seasons, and use what God has given us to serve the people around us.

Who has the loudest voice in your life?

Whether we realize it or not, we are always being formed. Every voice we listen to, every habit we repeat, and every piece of content we consume is shaping what we think, what we love, and who we are becoming.

In Week 1 of ALGORHYTHM, we are asking an important question: Who is discipling you?

Romans 12 tells us not to conform to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. In a culture where the average person checks their phone around 205 times a day, our attention is never just attention. It is devotion in seed form.

This Sunday at Soco Church, we will discover how our daily rhythms shape our lives, why our attention forms our affection, and what it means to follow Jesus as a disciple rather than consume Him as another voice in our feed.

Jesus is not simply another source of inspiration. He is Lord. We do not become like Him through pressure. We become like Him through proximity and surrender.

We will also begin a practical 7 Day Tune Up to audit the voices influencing us, reorder our attention, and replace unhealthy rhythms with habits that draw us closer to Jesus.

You do not accidentally become like Jesus. The loudest voice in your life will eventually become the strongest influence on your life, so make His the one you tune to.

Are we preparing the next generation for life, or simply trying to protect them from every difficult thing?

In 1 Samuel 17, David steps forward to face Goliath with a confidence that did not come from Saul’s armor or the absence of hardship. His confidence came from knowing that God was with him.

This Sunday at Soco Church, we are exploring what it means to move from protected to prepared. We will learn why removing every battle can prevent growth, why someone else’s armor will never fit God’s unique calling, and how true confidence is formed through the presence of God.

Our responsibility is not to fight every battle for the next generation. It is to help them recognize God’s voice, discover how He has equipped them, and trust His presence when their own Goliath appears.

What are you leaning the full weight of your life upon?

Your career, your finances, your relationships, your health, your plans, or your ability to stay in control may feel secure, but none of them were designed to carry the weight of your entire life.

In Jeremiah 17, we are shown two very different ways to live. One life is like a stunted shrub in the desert, while the other is like a tree planted beside the water with deep roots, green leaves, and lasting fruit.

This Sunday at Soco Church, we are asking an honest question: Where is your hope and confidence? Together, we will discover how misplaced trust shapes our hearts and how placing our confidence in God allows us to remain rooted, strong, and fruitful through every season.

Flourishing begins with trust, but its greatest fruit is intimacy with God.
