Wanting to feel secure is something we all have in common. My soul is restless and my anxious thoughts run rampant when I am not feeling secure.

Rest seems impossible if we are not in a place of feeling secure and confident.

When a storm comes, I take shelter in a place where I feel safe. In difficult life seasons I take shelter with my Heavenly Father. I love how this scripture reminds us that nothing, absolutely nothing, can withstand the power of God.

We have to seek His presence in those times. It’s a choice for me to run to my basement when there’s signs of a storm. It’s also a choice for me to run to my Father when life feels hard.

It’s a very rainy morning on the farm. Each of our animals have their own preference of how they’ll handle the rain. Some of them are hiding in the barn and others sit and enjoy the cool down.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

As I read this scripture I think of how much my soul desires to feel secure and have rest. They really do go hand in hand.

Without security our soul wrestles and chaos consumes our thoughts. We battle and in turn the rest never truly comes. But when we choose to dwell with our Heavenly Father, we get to experience His overwhelming goodness. Resting in His shadow allows us the security of knowing that His power is much greater than anything in this world. This scripture says that no power can withstand it.

Prayer and being in the Word of God are two key things that allow us to be able to dwell in our Fathers presence. Praying for you today 💜H

Forgiveness is really hard.

Our Sunday message was about forgiveness and what it does within us. We sometimes think forgiveness isn’t fair because it excuses that person and it says that the hurt they caused was okay. But that’s just not it.

Forgiveness is often never really for them because the unforgiveness we experience causes so much chaos within ourselves that the forgiveness we give is actually giving ourselves peace. It’s not saying what happened was okay, it’s saying I am not giving that thing permission to have any power over me anymore.

Sometimes forgiving is an act that we practice over and over. What about forgiving yourself? Many times we don’t want to practice that forgiveness towards ourself. I believe it’s because we know the magnitude of what happened differently when it’s our own mistake. I know the depth of my thoughts more than anyone else and this causes the shame and guilt to rise even higher.

How could we ever truly forgive others if we aren’t willing to forgive ourselves?

Forgiveness is many times a process and that’s okay. I am thankful we have a loving Father that is always waiting for us and not only is He waiting but He actually runs to meet us when we turn to Him.

Sometimes we wonder if our lives are truly making an impact towards Gods kingdom.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians to follow his example as he followed Christs example.

The impact we have on others can be as simple as that. Live your life as God as instructed and people will see it. Our influence extends to anyone who sees our life. The big parts and the small ones.

The way you live matters and can even reach others in a way you never knew.

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What do you suppose it means to set your mind on things above and not earthly things?

For me, it’s being reminded that all things are under Gods control and although hard times come, I know HE is ultimately in charge. My mind has had the tendency in the past to become far too focused on the problem in front of me instead of remembering all the blessings I am surrounded by.

What does it mean for you?

Thankful for Gods goodness. I remember life before Him and I would never want to go back. He has changed so much within me over the years. I could never take credit for anything I have done or will do… HE gets all the glory 🙌

Many times in life we are given new opportunities and in the midst of the excitement we wonder — can I actually do this? Who am I to think I have what it takes?

Moses thought the same thing. After God got his attention from a burning bush — “But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Gods response to him was beautiful. He reminded Moses not of who Moses was but He told him who HE was. God told Moses that He would be with him and when Moses asks for his name — “God said to Moses, “I am who I am.”And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

God was describing His character. He is more than enough, even when we don’t have what it takes. God isn’t bound by human limitations so when He calls us into something, it means He will walk along side us and in us.

I am sure you have heard this before— God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. If I could add something to this statement, it would be that it’s not all about me. When I focus on my own abilities there is no way I could do the things God has asked me to do.

If God asks you to do it, He will walk you through it.

Don’t get so focused on your own limitations that you block God from showing up in a big way.

Life is happening all the time. It’s in the small quiet moments when you can hear the wind wrestling the trees. It’s in the loud trip in the car on your way to school.

Everywhere we look, life is happening and with that time is passing. We often wonder where the time went as we see our children turning into young adults.

All the while life is happening, we faced with so many opportunities to make life worth living. It’s not about the tunnel vision that keeps us selfishly seeking what makes ourself happy.

It’s about adding life into other people. It’s about leaving a space better than how you found it.

Life isn’t all about “me”. Life is about living for God and fulfilling His perfect plan for our lives. Our creator and loving Father tasks us with living a life that brings honor to Him and others to His kingdom. What an honor.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.””
