Our food system is very big, accounting for about one-third of global carbon emissions, and taking 38% of global land usage. In this session we focus on "the kitchen" - that is, our daily personal food choices and their implication on the above huge footprint (the next session will focus on the systemic aspects).

The presenter is Sally Eales, who has a BA in Human and Environmental Science and an MA in Education and Leadership with certification in Home Economics. After defining a few basic dietary paths and how we are all in different places , she shares, in her easy-going manner, the benefits of leaning into, or adding a little more, plant-based foods. It not only helps our personal health but also the planetary health issues, above. She also touches on personal food waste, etc., and how to reduce such tendencies.

Let’s be real: Talking about "climate change" can feel huge. But talking about "food"? That’s something we do every day. 🥘✨

We’re pulling back the curtain on our food systems—from the hidden emissions in transportation to the systemic challenges farmers face in staying sustainable.

In our first webinar of the series, we’re focusing on the heart of the home: the kitchen.

We are SO excited to be joined by the wonderful Sally Eales. With her background in environmental science and home economics, she makes the "big" science feel accessible (and actually fun!).

Come learn how to align your plate with your values. 💚

If you missed our latest live webinar, you can still watch the recording!

Sit down with Lisa Thomson to learn more about:

✅ How we got hooked on fossil-fuel plastics.
✅ Why micro-plastics are a bigger deal than you think.
✅ How to move toward a future of mindful usage.

It’s not about being 100% plastic-free (we need it for medicine and tech!); it’s about ending the mindless waste.

Missed the conversation? No problem!

The recording of our January 11, 2026 webinar on ‘Can Re-imagining Capitalism Save the Planet? is now available online.

This session explored questions surrounding our economic system, and shed light on an equitable, environmentally sound capitalism that we can help bring about with our everyday decisions, shopping, and actions.

Our current economy can be described as shareholder capitalism, or corporate capitalism, where the rich get richer, and the poor get exploited. But it’s possible to transition to a stakeholder capitalism, a more democratic form – where workers, buyers, and investors all profit, and waste is as important as assets. Climate change is helping to drive that transformation.

Our speaker Bill McClain shed light on this new capitalism that could potentially save the planet!
