My email to the church about services tomorrow:
Dear Friends,
As you know a significant snow storm is heading our way. While we’re grateful for the precipitation, it does throw into jeopardy our worship services tomorrow.
The session has decided on the following plan:
Though we anticipate the roads and church driveway will be snowy in the morning since the storm is arriving late tonight, we’ll make a final call about the morning service by 8:30 a.m. Probably, the weather will prevent us from having the service at 10 a.m. But as good as the National Weather Service is, their forecasts are not the inspired Word of God. :) So on the possibility that the roads are fine in the morning we’ll hold off on making a call to cancel the 10 a.m. service until the morning. We’ll also take into consideration what is forecast for the rest of the morning hours. Even if the roads seem OK at 8:30 a.m. but the forecast is calling for heavy snow starting at 10 or 11, we’ll cancel the 10 a.m. service.
If we do cancel the 10 a.m. service, we will tentatively (and optimistically?) schedule a worship service for 3 p.m. If it become clear as the day goes on, that driving will not be safe at 3 p.m., we’ll cancel that service.
If we do meet at 3 p.m., we won’t celebrate the Lord’s Supper as scheduled. We’ll plan for it next Sunday so that as many people as possible can be there for the sacrament. Also, we will not have Sunday School classes after that service.
Although snow days are always exciting, I do hope we can worship together tomorrow on the Lord’s Day!
I will write again in the morning about the 10 a.m. service.
In Christ,
Pastor Johnson
